Milford Regional Medical Center’s announcement about rules for its "inclusive environment" caused a recent stir with a warning to potential patients that they must follow a specific code of conduct to access their services.
Dr. Peter Smulowitz, chief medical officer at the Massachusetts medical center, had released a now-unlisted video on the hospital’s official YouTube channel Jan. 3 explaining how not just staff, but patients themselves, are held accountable for causing offense, ranging from rhetoric to a hostile tone of voice.
"Everyone should expect a safe, caring and inclusive environment in all our spaces," Smulowitz said. "Our patient and visitor code of conduct helps us meet this goal. Words or actions that are disrespectful, racist, discriminatory, hostile or harassing are not welcome and will not be tolerated."
He specified that some examples of unacceptable conduct would be "offensive comments about others’ race, ethnicity, accent, religion, gender, sexual orientation or other personal traits; refusal to see a clinician or other staff member based on these personal traits; aggressive or intimidating behavior, physical or verbal threats and assaults; sexual or vulgar words or actions; and disrupting another patient’s care or experience."
...
Smulowitz warned that "body language and tone of voice are also important parts of communication."

The lawsuits should be epic.
So complaining that the nurse is really a man disguised as nurse is out of the question?
No soup for you!
If I lived near there, that place would be one of the LAST places I’d go for medical treatment. They’d not stop at just ‘not condoning.....whatever’. I think they and the staff they likely have would actually partake of some reverse racism themselves. I’ve seen it one hospital already, personally.
Does it apply to women of color doctors and nurses who tell white folk that they’ve had their share of good care, get to the back of the bus.
In other words, they will include everyone except NORMAL people who don't like being around MENTALLY ILL people!
They reach maximum INCLUSIVITY by EXCLUDING normals.
They create a "caring environment" by rejecting care for NORMALS.
They sure do subscribe to War Is Peace; Freedom Is Slavery; Ignorance Is Strength.
“...unacceptable conduct would be “offensive comments about others’ race, ethnicity, accent,...”
But of course a hate whitey black guy could go in their with “N***** this and N***** that” and they’d bend over backwards to treat him. The words they want to ban only cut one way and they’re all designed to penalize white Christians.
EMTALA has no sense of humor whatsoever. I wonder if their managed care contracts have such provisions? I doubt it. The lawyers will be standing in line.
During covid I heard regular conversations among most groups and levels of care talking openly about denying care to those who refused trumps vax. Your mom’s sweet nurse, emergency room staff and administrators in c suite.
Conform or die…. Then Iowa decides to crown the very man who gave big pharma and big government med the opportunity to openly discuss intentional murder. The death cult is more serious than those who would grant their enemy mercy.
I would avoid them on general principles then.
I don’t use that behavior, but I’m not going to deny anyone
healthcare if they are a typical candidate for it.
I lived down the road from that hospital. My wife had the misfortune of being treated there. (My wife is a PA.) She rated the staff as being less than competent, uncaring, and unwilling to listen to patients. In short, the Milford Regional Medical Center is a hellhole masquerading as a hospital.
Well my entire profession is completely f’ed up
The insufferable arrogance of medical staff.
Can anyone pinpoint for me exactly when them medical community exchanged the Hippocratic Oath for the hypocritic oath?
So much for the Hippocratic oath.
Does a raised middle finger qualify as “body language”?
Lol.
