Ukraine has destroyed two of Russia's Pantsir-S1 air-defense systems, officials said on Sunday, in the latest push by Kyiv to take out key Russian assets and ground-based weaponry.

Fighters with Ukraine's intelligence agency, the GUR, took out two Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft systems in Russia's Belgorod border region on Saturday, the agency said in a statement on Sunday.

Russian air defenses close to the country "turned out to be leaky," added Ivan Fedorov, the exiled Ukrainian mayor of the southern Moscow-controlled city of Melitopol.

Russia has been pulling back their air defenses out of Ukrainian territory in the hopes of avoiding strikes like this. Fat lot of good it did them! Ukrainians continue to target orc military units and weapons, while the orcs fire their missiles at civilian infrastructure.

The U.S. acquired two complete Pantsir (Russian for carapace, or turtle shell) from Libya. The UAE purchased the systems for their faction in that civil war. Someone in charge of them wanted two million U.S. dollars deposited in a Swiss bank account more than he wanted the Pantsirs. A couple of C-5's flew in from Germany and whisked them away. They might be in White Sands. They are a total piece of crap.

The Pantsir missiles are the crappy ones that have a booster that separates 2.5 seconds after launch

Last week one of those boosters fell on Russian houses ... and Russia was quick to blame Ukraine, even posting pictures of the damage ... until they realized they did it themselves

No offense, but how are Ukraine and Russia going about stopping each others supply lines/logistics chain and finding a strategy to destroy “the center of gravity”? Neither has a hope in hell by the way things are going. Heck, if guerrilla warfare devolves it favors Russia eventually due to the population count they have over Ukraine. What will stop this (There are a lot of forces behind Putin in this mess btw)?

Why Giving Ukraine Longer-Range Missiles Will Make No Difference

Update on the conflict in Ukraine for January 7, 2024...

- Russia continues conducting large-scale missile and drone strikes across Ukraine;

- Ukrainian forces are depleted after a defeated summer-fall offensive with the West unable to adequately replace their losses;

- The West is also unable to bolster Ukrainian air defense capabilities which are buckling under intense Russian strikes;

- In response, Ukraine seeks to focus on optics-centric strikes on Belgorod as well as conduct other symbolic retaliation strikes deep inside Russia;

- Western representatives have begun more vocally calling for the transfer of longer-range missiles and drones to Ukraine;

- Despite the ability of these weapons to strike deep within Russia, they do not and will not in the foreseeable future exist in large enough numbers to match let alone exceed Russian missile production;
