Historic climate deal does the ‘bare minimum’ as the world warms, burns and floods

If there was ever a year that called for bold global action on climate change, 2023 was it.
In what will likely go down as the warmest year on record — one rife with catastrophic floods, scorching heat waves, devastating wildfires and enduring drought — leaders from nearly 200 countries gathered to chart a path forward in the fight against climate change.
After more than two weeks of tense negotiations representatives from 198 countries agreed Wednesday to “transition away” from fossil fuels.
It was a historic deal but one that once again fell short for many climate activists, who saw it as further evidence that efforts to address climate change are moving too slowly and are being compromised by fossil fuel interests.
Skepticism of what comes next is understandable. The COP agreement’s lack of a concrete plan to eliminate the use of fossil fuels adds to growing concern that the big-picture moves necessary to avoid drastic environmental consequences are coming up short.
U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said Wednesday that the era of fossil fuels “must end,” adding that science indicates it will be impossible to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) without eliminating their use.
“Whether you like it or not, fossil fuel phase out is inevitable,” he wrote on X. “Let’s hope it doesn’t come too late.”

New York City ideologue ‘news’ creators advocating the very thing that will bring down their city home. There’s not enough wind, solar, green energy to keep that city running so they’d better be prepared for the repercussions.

We survived the Minoan Warm Period, then the Roman Warm Period, then the Medieval Warm Period. But somehow the Modern Warm Period is gonna kill us all? Oh the horrors!!

I really enjoyed the 2023 weather in Tampa. It was less windy than 2022.

“catastrophic floods, scorching heat waves, devastating wildfires and enduring drought”
Yep that never happened before until Henry Ford came along that bastard!
I can't remember where I saw it, but it was one of those things where they go ask college students questions and see what answers they get. In this case they had a graph purporting to show something ludicrous like a 30x increase in the frequency of hurricanes striking the United States since 1890, then basically asked "Did you know Global Warming has caused blah blah blah"...
no one disputed it (!) (And quite a few pretended they were already aware of this made up thing)
So we can laugh all we want, but the Lefties have been pretty successful at removing the ability to think critically from people and replacing it with political dogma.

So build more nuclear power plants.
That will take care of almost all stationary energy consumers.
Then will be plenty of oil and gas for transportation and other applications where electricity is not the best choice.
Oh, and EV's might actually become feasible, once the electric grid has been upgraded to deliver all this abundant energy.
Don't laugh, the tech to do this already exists, the politics however...

In what will likely go down as the warmest year on recordWhat do the records of a couple hundred years mean for a planet that's millions of years old? Nothing.

I don’t know how the planet could survive all those private jets taking off from the local airport after the conference was over...
Lol.

The elites who run the planet get to decide that.
Your job is to nod in agreement.
