A Massachusetts-registered construction company had bought the 5.5-acre property in 2021. But instead of construction equipment moving in, a new power pole sprang up. Electricity use jumped to nearly $7,000 in December 2022 from $600 a month a year earlier.
In June, after neighbor complaints, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said it carried out a search warrant of the property, seizing some 3,400 marijuana plants and 111 pounds of processed marijuana. The state said it was prosecuting two Chinese nationals and two naturalized U.S. citizens of Chinese origin on charges including illegal cultivation and trafficking of marijuana.
State and local officials identified the Carmel property as one of many unlicensed marijuana-growing operations throughout Maine that are run by Chinese networks. According to court documents, one of the defendants in the case told police that from Exit 130 to Exit 244 on I-95, a stretch of more than 100 miles, “all the Chinese people are growing marijuana.”

Jailing people when they are doing nothing more than trying to feel comfortable in their own skin is horrible for society too... especially when society can and does enjoy more destructive products without becoming criminals.
Weed use as a “problem” is equal to alcohol as a problem -— for some, their first drink is the beginning of a nightmare life and that minority will drink no matter how much they get punished for it. Same with drugs. For MOST, the moment it causes a negative consequence, the behavior is modified. Some are doomed to addiction the first time they get high.

About 10 rows of long white Quonset huts. They may not all be Grow Ops, but just about all Grow Ops look like that.
Aside from the millions in pot that these houses produce, these clowns absolutely trash these houses. The places in my area that have been taken down mare beautiful $500k homes. They are gutted and ruined.
I suggested to my relative dealing with these cases that they should just execute these clowns. That went over like a lead balloon.
When “medical marijuana” became legal, every hustler rented every apartment they could, and put grow rooms in them. All the old storefronts turned into pot stores.
Like vapes, tattoos parlors, etc, these little shops are getting pushed out of business. People have figured out they don't want to spent top dollar on “premium” buds they can grow in their own basement.
I imagine the big operations will eventually take over the entire market, and market economics will take over, until the government starts the big cash cow of regulation - with a “crackdown” on little shops, saying the pot contains pesticides, contamination, and whatever scares they come up with the force the little shops to pay high operating costs.
The big operations will pay the costs, because they know it will eliminate competition.
American drug culture needs to end. America is at war with China.
