Electric vehicles are significantly less reliable than conventional cars powered by gas or hybrid vehicles, according to a new survey from Consumer Reports.
The annual car reliability survey by Consumer Reports found that EVs are 79 percent more likely to have problems than conventional cars. Consumers reported that electric drive motors, charging and EV batteries had the most common issues associated with EVs, according to the survey.
Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing at Consumer Reports, noted that there may be “growing pains” among EVs because they are based on new technology or are being manufactured by new upstart companies, like Rivian. He said that companies “need some time to work out the bugs,” according to the magazine.

Suitable for a few things but...........
there may be “growing pains”
companies “need some time to work out the bugs,”
Roll out the euphemisms for “FAIL”!!!!
The thick skulls can’t cope with the fact that batteries are the problem, not the cars.
BINGO!
Well, tough $hit, America! You either voted for this nonsense, or you didn’t push back forcibly enough.
And Consumer Reports is partially funded by the Ford Foundation. Hmmmmmm.
In other news water is wet.
“The thick skulls can’t cope with the fact that batteries are the problem, not the cars.”
It’s only the “electric” parts of the vehicle....
Except, Consumer Reports continues to report that Toyota, Buick, Mazda, Lincoln and Honda are the lowest cost of ownership automobile brands. This is for both the first five years and ten years of ownership.
FYI, the most expensive brands to own/maintain are Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi.
Tesla was actually in the middle.
What was curious is that Lexus was more expensive to own/maintain than Toyota. Same goes for Acura vs Honda and Infinity vs Nissan.
That’s why I bought a Honda.
“End fossil fuels” + “Zero emissions” =
End of lubricants at affordable prices.
End of obtainable freight transportation by land, sea, air.
End of air travel.
End of satellite communications, rockets, missiles, space travel. (But no end to NASA and its future of “employing” the woke.)
Return to “the age of sail.” And, rope walks.
Return to small crop spaces “merely for survival.”
“there may be “growing pains””
Looking back, Toyota very successfully produced the Prius with few early problems, and it continues to be competitive.
It and other hybrids have complex drivetrains but apparently pay for themselves in reduced operating costs and a pleasant driving experience.
Hybrids must be anathema among the “woke”.
The ICE is apparently on “the wrong side of history” at this point. EV zealots would probably prefer that ICEs be shunned and banned entirely.
You run out of charge on a desert highway. No good samaritan can stop and give you an electric juicing. But if you had a fuel tank that is another matter to get you on your way
I have been very happy with my EV. The service and warranty have been great. After it burned down my house, they came out and gave us a new one with a roof top tent we could live in.
Awesome stuff right there.
Oh, and when we are done with it, we plan on using it as a toaster.
Don’t worry I’m sure TeslaHumper will tell us everything is fine nothing to see move along and charge your batteries it’s all wonderful
EVs = A Fools Bling
Even basic science showed self evident problems. Bought on hype & sold on a crisis.
I have a 1979 Buick wagon. Bought used with 55,000 miles in August 1981. Paid $3500.
Now has 223,000 miles.
Just did wheel bearings/brakes/U-Joints/ & some other maintenance on it.
Car is dependable & comfortable-—and has a 403 Olds engine that can get me anywhere I want to go.
