Except, Consumer Reports continues to report that Toyota, Buick, Mazda, Lincoln and Honda are the lowest cost of ownership automobile brands. This is for both the first five years and ten years of ownership.

FYI, the most expensive brands to own/maintain are Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi.

Tesla was actually in the middle.

What was curious is that Lexus was more expensive to own/maintain than Toyota. Same goes for Acura vs Honda and Infinity vs Nissan.

I have a 1979 Buick wagon. Bought used with 55,000 miles in August 1981. Paid $3500.

Now has 223,000 miles.

Just did wheel bearings/brakes/U-Joints/ & some other maintenance on it.

Car is dependable & comfortable-—and has a 403 Olds engine that can get me anywhere I want to go.

actually, that’s to be expected since these premium “luxury” vehicles use additional specialized parts to implement the “luxury” features, and also are sold in much lower volume than their common cousins, and therefore parts manufacture, storage and distribution have to be amortized over a smaller number of vehicles ... the above is true for ALL “luxury” vehicles, and the more expensive the vehicle, the more expensive the maintenance ...
