Actually the people going nuts are the ones getting treatment. If you call brain destroying drugs and electric shocks treatment.
I have watched a few of Smithsonian’s “AIR DISASTERS”, and came to the conclusion I will never fly again. Watching those passengers scream all the way down is a little unsettling.

I wasn’t aware there are such videos. Now I’m tempted to watch them. I wonder how many such passengers scream vs those who don’t? And how the flight crew reacts? Kind of morbid curiosity questions though, aren’t they?
There was a kook that opened an emergency exit on final last spring. The plane was low enough that the air pressure inside and outside of the plane was about equal..

I would be interested to know your thoughts regarding panic attacks, causes, thought processes, duration, etc., because I’ve never experienced one and do not know anyone who has. However, the experience is of interest to me because I’ve read verified incidents where soldiers engaged in what they considered to be life-ending combat on multiple occasions manage to repeatedly do so without experiencing disabling panic attacks. Your thoughts?

There are dozens of episodes in the Smithsonian channel, enacting the various stages in the cockpit, leading up to the crashes. They have actual cockpit recordings, black box data, NTSB interviews, and the findings of the investigations, which is mostly pilot error. For those interested in aviation, pilots etc it is probably very interesting and relevant. Usually, the re-enactments show the pilots attempting to save the planes until the last moment.
Years ago, a good friend lost her husband in an airline crash, she had three young children and just devastated. It was pilot error so she and the kids received a very large settlement from US Air. She said the money will never replace the heartbreak. Recently she watched the reenactment of the crash and was sorry she did.

The Quest Channel has a show on called MAYDAY weeknights at 02:00 & 03:00 EST.
They reenact Air Crashes and the Investigations. Can be very sobering to watch.
There was one on last week about the AA DC-10 Flight 191 that went down right after takeoff as a result of the #1 (left) engine coming off of the wing and it was a flight that had a Cockpit Camera so the Passengers could see what was happening in real time. The Cockpit Camera was discontinued after that flight.
Oh my heavens. That would be terrifying, can’t imagine what the airlines were thinking to have a camera in the cockpit.
I remember when that was in place and it was really awesome IMO.
The Airlines never expected something like that to happen. And the legal beagles must have not thought about it too much either.
But, yeah that would have been terrifying to watch.
Too late. That boorish type of attire already is aboard the airplanes. There’s always going to be that 5% demographic in any group that acts like an ass or an idiot. Half of the people would act more respectful.

You still have the lines, the luggage limits, random cancellations, the security and so on. No, I will not say I will never fly again, but it would have to be for a very good reason and at my age I don’t see that happening.

Understood. Two months ago wife and I flew Dulles to Vienna, and Vienna to Rome and the reverse back to Dulles. Long and tedious for all the reasons you’ve cited. But to do the trip we planned, it had to be done. We envied the passengers in 1st class, but did not want to pay the exorbitant ticket price to join them.

I didn’t see any nuns on the plane however there were several pipe hittin bruthas. Don’t think blow torches are allowed on flights, but I could see how a pair of pliers would have helped. :)
