The majority of U.S. adults are living paycheck to paycheck heading into this holiday season, a report shows.

LendingClub’s latest report shows that as of October, 60 percent of adults said they are living paycheck to paycheck. Around 40 percent of consumers consider themselves to be worse off now than in 2022.

Even higher earners are struggling to get by, with 42 percent of those making six figures also living check-to-check under President Joe Biden.

According to a separate CNBC survey, the number of adults struggling to save between checks is up from 58 percent in March.

Millions lost their jobs when the governors shut everything down.

Children lost two years of growth via school and got cut off from their buddies.

But every government worker across the country got their paycheck...Excepting the Military who refused the shot.

You should have gone to his house and shown him the difference between some sodium dropped in water and a block of C4. The new would learn about high explosives. Idiot thinks gunpowder is an explosive I’ll bet.

A friend of mine is a remodeler. He tells me that an amazing number of people living in the ritzier areas of Salt Lake in nice big homes have a nice car in the driveway, nice furniture in the living room/entertaining areas and the rest of the rooms are empty. Lol.

My wife is friends with a couple of senior citizen women friends, who help collect food for the needy.

Apparently, in the SF Bay area, 35 to 40% of the population can’t put food on the table for 3 meals a day for each family member.

Paychecks haven’t kept up with the cost of living for generations.

Where I live jobs paying 20/hr are common but a studio apartment costs over 2,000/month.

Hard to live on that job even at a basic level.

“But, but, but the media talking heads are always droning on and on about this being the greatest US economy ever.”

While at the same time the Biden Chomo Car is complaining that the media aren’t doing enough telling how great Bidenomics is working.

What I see happening is that society is splitting into haves and have nots—with the gap widening.

There are plenty of “haves” to fill every restaurant and vacation resort.

“Paychecks haven’t kept up with the cost of living for generations.”

Correct.

I crunched the numbers for southern CA a while back and it turned out that the per square foot housing costs closely matched the rate of inflation.

It was wages that were not increasing fast enough to cover inflation over the past few decades—not even close.

My neighbor is a millionaire, friends tell me that he now serves Spam(the canned kind)at parties and Walmart store brand fake Diet Coke. He even traded his GMC Denali Truck for a Prius, two golf carts and a bicycle built for two.

Maybe so, but they sure are eating well. I can’t find a table at half the restaurants I go to these days.

I make that comment all the time! We went to Texas Roadhouse recently and had a two hour wait for a table. At least the barrel of free peanuts is back.

Also, travel around the shopping malls, restaurants, etc., is absolutely snarled.

I just snagged a fresh duck earlier today for Thanksgiving, one of the last ones, and it was nearly $15 a pound. People were swarming the supermarket I was at.

It seems that everybody has tons of money and are spending it wildly. At least, that's what I see from my area of Southern Connecticut.

” People tend to spend what the earn.

Nothing wrong with that”

Until:

—The car breaks down
—The roof starts leaking
—The HVAC system crashes
—The dog breaks his leg and needs to go to the vet
—The dentist tells you time for a couple of root canals.

Then there is plenty wrong with it....

;-)

NEVER had ‘SAVINGS’

INVESTMENTS have been real estate—my homes.

First house==$25,250 city parcel

2nd house ==$105,000 5 acres & log house=foreclosure. Sold it for around $380,000.

Third house ==$140,000 & I paid cash with profits from 2nd house. MORE than 5 acres-—NEW house—well—septic. Added more improvements. Worth over $400,000 today.

Nope. You can’t live off just one.

That’s why you keep working.

Who writes this nonsense?

Those stories leave my jaw dropping. I did not realize that level of right-speak and even cancel culture toward basic physical processes existed in schools. Stupid stuff in literature, maybe, but chemistry? That’s unbelievable!

The percent of GDP that goes to wages fell from ~67% to 46% over the past few generations.

It is affecting everything from family formation to older folks being able to prepare for retirement. It is also creating a strong pull towards socialism.

Yet their are many “conservatives” who think cheap labor is a great thing, many on this site.

In reality its terrible on many levels. It doesn’t even help business when so many potential consumers are completely broke and can’t afford their products.
