Ron DeSantis supporter questions consultants’ strategy at Iowa tour stop

'I think there's got to be something different for people to see that heart of yours.'

In Iowa Saturday, Ron DeSantis heard from a supporter who suggested his campaign wasn’t successfully showing his “heart,” laying the blame on “consultants” as he questioned whether the Florida Governor could win the Presidency.

During an event in Muscadine, which was hosted by the Never Back Down super PAC, the 2024 presidential candidate was confronted with criticism of how the DeSantis message is delivered.

“I don’t know what your consultants are telling you, and it’s good for me to be here today to see your heart. But I think that needs to come across. So my major question is how are you going to win because you’re not moving in the polls and I’m not all that much about polls, but I think there’s got to be something different for people to see that heart of yours,” the supporter said.

DeSantis did not address his consultants’ strategy deficiencies in the answer, preferring instead to focus on the vagaries of public opinion surveys and chiding the media for covering polling.

The Governor said he “would be very, very skeptical” of opinion surveys, defending his strategy of traversing Iowa and pitching “maybe 20, 30 people” at a given stop.

“I’ll be the only candidate that shows up. That’s not about juice in a poll that’s about on caucus night being able to do that. So my goal is winning. It’s not to fluff this. And they use those to create narratives,” DeSantis said. “I mean, give me a break. Some of this stuff is so fraudulent when you look at it.”

His supporter nailed it for him, and he blew it off.

He lacks charisma and has had at least three reboots/relaunches to reinvent his image/campaign. Stunts like wearing elevator shoes to pretend to be taller don’t help him seem genuine, especially when he clods around the stage like he’s in drag wearing heels. He’s a joke at this point. Haley basically wants WW3 and brags about kore US involvement in foreign conflicts and she’s tied with Lil Ronnie.

“...the 2024 presidential candidate was confronted with criticism of how the DeSantis message is delivered.”

He message is quite clear to me: “If I’m lucky enough to see Trump removed from the ballot, you only have me to vote for”.

Perhaps he can play this song at his "rallies":

Bonnie Raitt - Have A Heart

This may be an even better choice though:

Carrie Hope Fletcher - I Know I Have A Heart

His wife can sing it to Ron. 🤣

The worst part about his candidacy is he refuses to go back to Florida. The more he keeps this farce going the more people dislike him.

These candidates have to be getting paid to remain in the race.

Reality check.

Team DeSantis was prasiing the polls a year ago when they were showing him close to Trump and with a small lead in a couple of Iowa and Newhamshire polls. When he was winning it wasn’t a narrative and DeSantis was “the only one” who can win. Now Trump has a big lead and it is “this stuff is so fraudulent?”

DeSantis has also pointed to Cruz’s 2016 Iowa win after he began his rise in October.

But Trump was only polling then at 21% (Trump’s 40%+ now) and Cruz only trailed him by 11 pts (DeSantis is down 26 in the latest IA Poll and is tied with Nikki Haley.)

Then Cruz barely won Iowa (and with a last minute lie that Carson was dropping out) and Trump still won the nomination.

The most important result of the DeSantis campaign is that this goober will not be chosen as VP by Trump.

Someone in his inner circle played to his ego. If he’d have been smart, he’d have sat out this cycle, supported Trump and built up his skills for 2028.

It’s funny to see a guy who got everything he wanted for 4 years, deal with political impotence. DeSantis had everything he needed in Florida, for a successful tenure. The GOP establishment was running interference for him, big time, and DeSantis thought it would always be that way.

DeSantis is going to win the nomination. Nobody reads these obscure online publications. All I keep seeing on FR are all of these Trump worshippers obsessed with Ron De Santis. RDS won’t back down. He is winning the debates that Trump is too chicken to go to.

Trump bloviates about shoes and “birdbrains”, while DeSantis sticks to the issues and succinctly lays out his vision for saving our families and saving this country from the socialist hell which is looming that Trump recklessly allowed in his final year as president.

If Trump isn’t on the ticket could Florida legitimately go to Biden even if DeSantis is the nominee?

Oh please. Trump has talked all the main issues and then some.

Problem with someone like you is that you paid no attention to this article and what this voter said to him.

People look for a connection and RDS is not capable of it. That is a big reason he keeps tanking in the polls.

He comes off as cold and controlled. That is who he is.
