*The US economy is lurching toward a recession, according to Jeff Gundlach.
*The DoubleLine Capital chief pointed to a "de-inverted" bond-yield curve and the rising unemployment rate as signs of a looming slump.
*Layoffs are coming," he warned.
The US economy is clearly headed toward a recession, veteran bond investor Jeff Gundlach has warned.
The DoubleLine Capital CEO said Wednesday that the yield curve β a bond-market gauge that measures the gap between 2-year and 10-year Treasury yields β is signaling that a downturn is coming.
"The shape of the yield curve is extremely unstable at this time," Gundlach told CNBC's "Closing Bell".

In my 42 oilfield years, half of them were years of one or more layoffs. If it were a contest that business has all of them beat. Somehow I survived to retire. Half of it was because I didn’t lay myself off from my own company. We managed to fight our way through all the downturns somehow. We never turned down honest work and we appreciated all we got.
I just keep my head down and keep moving.
Seriously, though - one would have to be a mental case to outwork me, these young kids out of college - they don't stand a chance! ; )
Eventually working hard is not enough. After the fat is cut then comes muscle and bone. Bone comes down to favorites and flipping a coin. I told the kids to try to find a place where you are not just valued but liked if you can.
It’s a small price to pay for no more mean tweets from the orange bad man...
Rising unemployment is a lagging indicator. If true then we are in a recession now.
I love hearing of a great outcome, congrats! We retired in our mid-50's and wonder how we found time to do anything while working, and still can't find enough time after retirement to do everything. Picked up a guitar but I suck at it. Just got a capo and hope it helps.
Set in motion the day dumbbell Biden was sworn in.
Pipeline cancelled which started the energy price upward spiral .
If we instead had lots of plentiful oil and gas, much of the inflation would not have happened.
They can only prop up, for so long.
