House Republican Vice Chair Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) became the chamber’s Speaker on Wednesday, three weeks after Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted.
Johnson became his conference’s fourth Speaker nominee on Tuesday, and he takes over in the midst of multiple international crises, most notably in Israel, Gaza and Ukraine. There has been a split in the House GOP over aid to Ukraine as they face a war against Russia, making the passage of some recent bills a tough hill to climb in the lower chamber.
President Biden announced the sending of a budget request to Congress requesting aid for both Israel and Ukraine in a speech last Thursday. The request is expected to be about $100 billion, with a large portion of the funds for Ukraine.
Johnson has shown some resistance to more funding for Ukraine in the past, but seems to wholeheartedly support Israel.
Here’s what you need to know about his history of views on both conflicts:

I recommend he and the other Republican House require the Administration cut expenses elsewhere in government for every increase requested. Start with welfare.
Just watched the Steve Bannon interview of Matt Gaetz on Rumble.
WOW!!
Things have been such a cluster for so long long long.
This is really encouraging.
But one has to guard one’s emotions. And continue to pray for God’s mercy on America.
This is the first I’ve heard of so I have to do more research
But that means that he’s not an attention ho.
I like that in a Speaker.
And he’s cute.
bookmarked
Thanks.
I skimmed part of it. Seems reasonable. God knows when I can find time to read through the whole thing...!
They had no choice, they had become the ones causing the chaos. Mike Johnson supports President Trump. Thus he will do what is best for the citizens & this nation. At last I hope he will. Hopefully he is not another DeSantis, who pretends to be what he is not.
This will change everything, we are really winning now!
All those RINO/neocon/uniparty GOPe congressmen didn’t back him for nothing.
I’m more worried he didn’t make our Border number 1 issue
I believe that the majority of them only care about what their collective group of large campaign contributor special interests want. They NEED the money to get reelected, and their goal is to entrench themselves into a long, long term during which they can enrich themselves far beyond the wealth they had on entering Congress.
They scheme and jockey for committee assignments that directly serve their special interest contributors’ desires. The best way to isolate a Congressman is to take away their committee/panel assignments.
In comments 13, 14, and 15, a number of interesting statements are made concerning situations in Ukraine and Israel. The issue of financial support to both Israel and Unkraine are also addressed. Biden has proposed around $10 billion for Israel, and $60 billion for Ukraine. Ukraine has a population of around 44 million including those who are currently staying in Poland and other places.
Internal production, tax collecting and other financial means of creating income have been seriously disrupted for at least 20 months. How does this situation compare with that in Israel and is the division suggested fair compared to need and population? Israel has received generous support from the US for decades including both military and economic aid. On the other hand Ukraine has received far less support from the US over those decades and most of that economic rather than military aid. Ukraine is sapping Russia’s military might as they cling to that tarbaby. It is in our military best interest to aid Ukraine in this fight.
The new speaker Mike Johnson seems to be slowly but surely opening his eyes... :
“Aid to Ukraine can continue but ‘under certain conditions’: new U.S. House Speaker”

More like wishful thinking conservatives have their eyes opened to yet another Donor Controlled “leader”.
i’m not going to use that website..
If he calls for a uke funding vote that would be reason to “vacate the chair” unacceptable.
Not yet another uniparty/globalist/RINO/neocon/GOPe puppet in conservative clothing!
Who was able to get the vote of every last GOP congress critter?
Well, I’ll be darned!
