Good evening, radu...have you survived the dust today?

We’ve had some sun...and if it keeps up, I might be able to get the leaves off the deck, and move the pile in the yard.

October 19

First on the List

Bible in a Year:

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33 The morning commenced like a track meet. I practically jumped out of bed, launching into the teeth of the day’s deadlines. Get the kids to school. Check. Get to work. Check. I blasted full throttle into writing my “To Do” list, in which personal and professional tasks tumbled together in an avalanche-like litany:

“ . . . 13. Edit article. 14. Clean office. 15. Strategic team planning. 16. Write tech blog. 17. Clean basement. 18. Pray.”

By the time I got to number eighteen, I’d remembered that I needed God’s help. But I’d gotten that far before it even occurred to me that I was going at it alone, trying to manufacture my own momentum.

Jesus knew. He knew our days would crash one into another, a sea of ceaseless urgency. So He instructs, “Seek first [God’s] kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).

It’s natural to hear Jesus’ words as a command. And they are. But there’s more here—an invitation. In Matthew 6, Jesus invites us to exchange the world’s frantic anxiety (vv. 25–32) for a life of trust, day by day. God, by His grace, helps us all of our days—even when we get to number eighteen on our list before we remember to see life from His perspective. .

Reflect & Pray

How can we turn to God first each day? On stressful days, what helps you trust Jesus with things demanding your immediate attention?

Father, thank You for your invitation to relinquish my anxiety and to embrace the life of abundant provision You offer me each day.

Hey radu!

How are things your way?

We've had a wave of 70+ degree warmth here lately and it feels great to get out in the sun for awhile!

Robin's headed out tonight for another 3 day quilting get-together with her gal friends so I'll be hanging and feeding the pups for awhile.

Not much else happening with me this week so far.

Howdy, Kathy.

I was able to get out today! He finished working the part of the field directly across from me and is working the area by the highway. Whew! I hauled trash to the convenience center and topped off the car’s gas tank for the next week, and enjoyed being out on a sunny, fairly warm day. I’m glad because the clouds are moving back in. *sigh*

I’ve seen you’ve had some sunshine for a change. Y’all certainly needed it! I hope it sticks around long enough to dry out those leaves.

One of the toughest parts about Covid was Walter Reed stopping my church group from volunteering there.

Now, under the Biden regime, religious groups are no longer allowed at W.R. at all!

Cool...you didn’t choke on any dust, AND you were able to get out into the sun.

Just a couple days of sun and I can rake some leaves. Not the whole yard, but a dip where they collect, along with ducks. Haven’t seen the injured lady duck this evening yet.

Again tonight I have no wifi and hubby can’t call them till in the morning. I’m ready to throttle someone. I told hubby that it’s a good thing he’ll be the one to call, since I probably would NOT be a nice person. LOL!

Anyhow, I’m on the slowed-down cell service in the meantime, and it’s sort of like dial-up but worse. Hope to talk more tomorrow. Grrrr. 🗣

I was really surprised he managed to get the area across from me done so quickly this year. I’ve seen two combines out there but maybe he got his hands on three this year. Whatever the reason, I’m a happy camper. It was a NICE day and I’d expected to miss out on it. As dry as it’s been for over a month, the air’s full of dust anyway and my sinuses are trashed. Walking out into a thick cloud would just be too much. We have a slight chance for rain tomorrow and I pray we get it.

Fingers crossed for luck you can get those leaves cleared out before it rains again. Looks like it’ll be clear for maybe another day.

I hope the injured lady duck is ok. It’s gotta be hard for her, having only one leg. :-(
