Russia's Likely Death Toll in Ukraine Revealed in Government Filing
Newsweek ^ | Oct. 13, 2023 | Isabel van Brugen

Posted on 10/13/2023 5:05:16 PM PDT by canuck_conservative

Russia's proposed 2024 budget allocates funding to the families of 102,700 military personnel killed in Ukraine, giving insight into Moscow's likely death toll in Russian President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine that began in February 2022.

The figures, which have not been independently verified by Newsweek, were reported on Thursday by independent Russian news outlet Mozhem Obyasnit, which analyzed Russia's federal budget draft for 2024 to 2026. The publication notes that in addition to one-time insurance payments for military personnel killed in Ukraine, relatives also receive monthly compensation of 21,922.12 rubles ($225) from the Social Fund of Russia....

According to the publication, the government's expenses more than doubled compared to 2022, and the difference of 2.250 billion rubles ($23,151,125.25), divided by the monthly payment, suggests Russia will need to pay the families of 102,700 military personnel killed in Putin's war in Ukraine.

"According to the authorities' forecasts, 100,000 Russian military personnel will die within two years of the [war]," Mozhem Obyasnit reported...

Russia's death toll continues to rise amid Ukraine's grinding counteroffensive to recapture its occupied territories. According to figures released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Friday, Moscow lost 1,030 soldiers over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 285,920...

Russia itself rarely releases figures on troop losses. In September 2022, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said 5,937 Russian troops had been killed in the war in Ukraine since late February 2022...

sounds plausible ... a lot more believable than Shoigu's "6000" number, anyway

using the 3:1 injured/killed ratio would mean Russia has lost 400,000 troops

which would explain why Putin had to do another 300,000 mobilization 1 year ago ...

40,000,000 / 100,000 = damn, they can only last for another 400 years

actually longer, because it doesn’t include those yet to be born ... so, maybe 600 years ...

Significant yes. Enough to force Russia to back off Ukraine, no.

Russia has a history of taking substantial losses. My estimate is that it will take on the order of 500,000 KIA to get Russia to withdraw.

“Let’s fight Ruzzia to the last Ukrainian life!”

LOL. Using the Ruzzian artillery advantage of 10:1, that would mean 1 MILLION Ukrainians dead. No wonder they’re reduced to press-ganging Geriatrics.

...and for what, to try to settle some blood feud that a handful of Neocons have? SICK.

So putin’s war has cost at least a quarter-million lives.

And he wants Israel to go easy on Hamas. Or else there will be... consequences.

You know who’s paying all of these expenses for the 450,000 dead Ukrainian boys? Our grandchildren will be. We’re also paying the salaries of the entire satrapy. Don’t forget the pensions we’re paying for all pensioners, dead and alive.

It’s become so bad that Baghdad Bob would blush.

I’m see a lot of reports that Russia has started their offensive again. The reports seem to indicate thousands of tanks on the move, but they are moving very slow and deliberate.

In any case, it seems all of the reports are claiming victory for whichever side they are on. The Pro Ukraine videos are screaming victory for Ukraine. The Pro Russian videos are screaming victory for Russia.

My guess is we won’t know for a month or two based on if Russia is stopped in their tracks, or if they’ve advanced considerably.

What 10 to 1 advantage? This isn’t early 2022, you didn’t watch the evolving artillery situation in Ukraine and what it is today?

I agree that there's propaganda on both sides.

I base my assertion that the Ukraine is losing is the reports of people who have been more accurate than others in the 'fog of war' (propaganda storm) and then the manuevers of Poland, Biden etc. as they drop funding for the Ukraine. In particular, Poland's interactions with the Ukraine seem to indicate Biden has given Poland to 'get tough' with the Ukraine - that way Biden fakes like he's still supporting the Ukraine while Poland does the 'dirty work.'

But -I know there's fake fake fake out there and I am turning to the people I suspect are seeing through the lies better than others.
