Israel does not believe that Russia was in any way connected to last week’s Hamas attack, the country’s ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Ben Zvi, said in an interview with Kommersant on Wednesday.
Ben Zvi was asked to comment on allegations against Russia on social media and by a number of news outlets that it may have been involved in the attack and that the situation in Gaza is beneficial to Moscow, as it supposedly draws Washington’s attention away from Ukraine.
The ambassador responded by calling the allegations “complete nonsense.”
“We do not believe that Russia was involved in this in any way,” Ben Zvi said. “So all the aforementioned claims are pure conspiracy,”

Okay, so Russia secretly welcomes this war as a distraction from the Ukraine situation. Should we be surprised? If outside forces effect a coup in Ukraine 2014 and Russia feels threatened by an expanding NATO, and missiles are being lobbed across the border into Russian territory, drones are being flown into Moscow.... Of course it’s all a tragedy.
