For sure! Thanks, Beowulf9.
Yup...still need a lot more rain to avoid setting a new record low annual rainfall.
Current projection puts it about a foot short for the year.
I wish there were trees in the cam view. At least I can see the sky and the mountains again.
You need a break from rain for a while so you can sweep the leaves off your deck. MUCH easier to do if they aren’t sopping wet.
The way things are looking, I won’t need to mow for a while. What I mowed last week is the same height as where I mowed yesterday. Everything matches now. No rain, no growth. I got ripped off today and tomorrow doesn’t look much better for rain, and there’s none in the forecast Friday through next Wednesday. Leaves are dropping from the trees, not due to cool weather but due to VERY thirsty trees.
Howdy, luvie.
Nope. No rain. It rained ALL AROUND me but nothing here. The radar showed light rain over me but it evaporated before it reached the ground. I could see heavy rain falling in every direction and it was very frustrating.
There’s a slight chance tomorrow but it’s about the same as today’s was. I’m not holding my breath.
We weren’t quite as hot as you were but it was toasty, and will be for the next week. *sigh*
Awww...I was sure hoping that you would. Maybe tomorrow? It IS frustrating! We’ve both been the holes in the donuts far too many times this year, huh!
Yeah, this heat isn’t ending any time soon.
❤️
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
I hoped so, too, but not too much until I ran a couple of errands this afternoon. I could see it was raining close by all across the horizon north of here. But as soon as it hit the county line, the heavy rain broke up and some went west of here and the rest went east of here. It missed me by less than 5 miles on either side.
Chances look about the same tomorrow but we’ll see. I’m not holding my breath.
Yep, as long as the high sits over the middle of the country, we’re stuck with the heat. And it isn’t going to move any time soon. :-(
We’re cooling way down too, hitting the 40’s at night and 60’s daytime, feels wonderful.
Well, guess we’ll just have to live with it. Like we’ve done for months already. I’m just glad it’s under 100 for a change.
Just hope those poor beans get some rain soon. He’s going to lose that crop if they don’t. Sad.
Yup, can’t control the weather so we just have to live with what we get. Fall will be here eventually.
I checked the beans today after I woke up and saw that many leaves turned yellow overnight. There are decent-sized beans in most of the pods. He gets drought-hardy seeds for both the beans and corn. They can make do with dewfall, and we have heavy ones. That’s why he had a crop last year when many others lost their corn. The yield is down because it takes more to fill a bushel when the corn/beans are small but at least there’s something to harvest. But some good rain would have made things a lot better.
One needs to be a gambler to be a farmer.
Yesterday at Wichita Ridge:
How's everyone doing this morning?
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
I see Gizmo enjoyed the romp around the lake yesterday. He had his happy face on. :-)
Absolutely they are gamblers. And they are also indispensable to our way of life. Couldn’t do without them!
How much longer will the museum be open? I can’t remember when it closed last year.
Yep. Without farmers, we
d all have to grow our own food and people like me would starve. I do NOT have a green thumb. LOL I tried the first two years I lived here and the results left a LOT to be desired.
The museum stays open until Veterans Day weekend, though last year we stayed open one more weekend. That was a bust because we had no one. Everyone is busy shopping for Thanksgiving by then. I hope we don’t do it again this year but if we do, I’ll be there.
~~~Shudder~~~ at the holiday season coming on. I try not to think about that. LOL! Although, we’re going to see the kids for Thanksgiving again this year.
I don’t have a green thumb either. When my MIL passed, she had some lovely plants, especially a Christmas cactus that she’d nursed for years. Well.....it bloomed once and then gave up the ghost. My thumb is black. LOL!
I think I’ll finish this show and head out. Didn’t get a nap today and I’m so tired! I could go to sleep just sitting here, and I usually would never do that. See ya Saturday! Have a good weekend at the museum!
My only shudder regarding the holiday season is the inconvenience when doing regular shopping between Thanksgiving and Christmas. LOL People just seem to go nuts and all I want to do is get my usual stuff and come home.
Cool that you’re spending Thanksgiving with the kids again. It’s been a while since you were last down there.
I’m not the Black Death to house plants but as far as gardening goes, my talents are definitely lacking.
So I definitely appreciate all the farmers who keep the food coming. :-)
Sleep well. Catch ya Saturday.
D-Day to Germany: The Private COLOR WWII Footage of Jack Lieb
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJys3M9T0a4
In 1944, Jack Lieb, who was too old for the draft, found himself covering the war for Heast’s “News of the Day”. In addition to the 35mm black and white film camera that he carried to shoot content for the newsreels, he also carried his own personal 16mm color film camera. This is a look at some of the film that he shot along with his own commentary recorded 25 years after the war.
Comments below the video:
“I am 6 mins into this & already I can tell this is a National Treasure. Thank you for posting this precious clip, and God Bless the souls of all who sacrificed their lives during this time for the sake of freedom. Whether willfully or unwillingly we owe them so much.”
Hi Kathy, you may not have known but I was down and out for a few days so I was MIA
Once again by ambulance to hospital with pneumonia in right lung.
I was at VA hospital in Buffalo but had to escape. Welfare recipients get better care than us.
Every time a demonrat gets control Veterans services falls by the wayside but they implement policies that are a detriment to our care and our health. It’s the first time in my 67 years life that I got up, signed myself out and my wife came and wheeled me out. I’m livid, I had to live it to see it. I hope to be able to rattle some damn cages around here but I doubt it. I’s represented by brain dead democrats.
