The Army is showing no signs of curtailing its deployments to Europe as the war in Ukraine continues to grind on.
On Wednesday the Army announced that about 3,400 soldiers with the 101st Airborne Division’s 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team will head to Eastern Europe this fall, as will 200 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters.
The units will deploy primarily to Romania as well in Southeastern Europe and to the continent’s “High North” region that includes Scandinavian countries, Army officials said.
Among the 101st troops are infantry units from the division’s storied 187th Infantry Regiment, known as the Rakkasans.
“We look forward to the return of the 82nd Airborne Division to the continent, and to the Rakkasan’s next ‘rendezvous with destiny,’ which follows the back-to-back deployments of their storied division’s two other infantry brigade combat teams,” Army Col. Martin O’Donnell, a spokesman for U.S. Army Europe, said in a statement.
The brigade from the 101st Airborne will replace the division’s 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The 82nd Airborne troops will replace a similar unit from the 10th Mountain Division, an Army news release says.

“The notion of “assisting” Ukraine with US servicepersons and material escalates tensions and depletes readiness, simultaneously.”

Also, think about how much China is learning from watching our tactics, munitions, capabilities, etc. This is highly valuable intel for them (all cost free) to leverage and factor into their own planning. Nobody seems to be talking about this aspect of our escalating support for this war.
Respectfully, my FRiend, I do not.
You summarize my worries quite well, my good FRiend.
The people who have brought and own millions of AR’s type weapons’ and billons of rounds of ammo.
Did not buy them to turn into foreign occupier’s,

“A friendly reminder to the Muscovites about how close they are to NATO troops...”
I’m sure they’re shaking in their boots at the prospect of a bunch of panty wearing trannies patrolling the border.
I just read all the replies.
Obviously, those complaining like this is some new thing have either never served, or if they have, are being purposely obstuse and misleading.
I spent 7 years in unform in Europe, TDY’ed all over the continent—and this was post-Cold War after the Soviet Union fell. It is a thing the military does all the time.
You don’t need to make up stories to be against US military aid to Ukraine. Just say so and tell your congressperson. I do.
What do you think this normal and routine rotation is about?
Why do you think that President Trump reactivated V Corps and moved it closer to the Russian front, pulled out of INF, and started upgrading our anti-Russia nuke posture in Europe?
Texas NG will be joining them soon after Abbott deploys them to border. I bet the federalization and deployment orders are already in the pipeline.
And if 82nd Div HQ is being deployed, the rest of Div cannot be far behind.
“The deployments will not increase the U.S. military’s presence on the continent”
Do you believe the federal government has never lied to the American people about troop deployments or anything else? How about the current administration?
Should we take every pronouncement from every government official as 100% truth?
A simple rotation of troops in Europe?
Do you think that bases being emptied and a massive number of American troops, tanks, trucks, aircraft, weaponry, and ammo are shipped to Europe and no one notices unless the government tells us about it?
” this is normal unit rotation, nothing has changed, nothing irregular., no increase… SOP.”
I believe that you are likely correct.

I believe that you are likely correct.
This is just cycling existing forces.
Ditto.
Fire 1000 tomahawk missiles at Russia, along with JDAMs and full air assault, then invade Kaliningrad and Belarus. And for good measure let’s sink the Chinese PLAN and destroy their air forces, simultaneously, and invade North Korea. And allow Israel to take care of Tehran once and for all.
Personally, I care less about Ukraine and more about the Rio Grande.
Yeah bro, that’ll work great.
Did you serve in Romania, any other country in Southeastern Europe or to the continent's “High North” region that includes Scandinavian countries?
Unless it was Embassy or Consulate duty you shouldn't have been there encroaching on Russia, proving we are a threat to them.
