The four criminal trials currently scheduled for former President Donald Trump are amongst the most significant and controversial trials in American history. It is imperative that they also be among the fairest trials in our history. Regardless of the results—acquittal, conviction, hung jury—the trials must be perceived as having been fair. The defendant must receive the benefit of all of his constitutional and statutory rights. Not only is Donald Trump on trial in these cases, but the American system of justice is on trial, not only in America but around the world.
The defendant is not only a former president; he is also the leading candidate to run against the incumbent president. Never before in our history has a leading presidential candidate been indicted, especially in the run-up to the election. If the trials themselves are unfair or even reasonably perceived to be unfair, our nation will be further divided and our standing in the world of democracies will be further damaged.
There is great desire among those who strongly oppose what Trump did in the past and what they believe he is likely to do in the future to "get" him. Many believe that the noble end of preventing Trump from being our next president justifies ignoble means, including stretching the Constitution and the law so as to assure his conviction. They believe that the reelection of President Trump would be more dangerous than compromising his constitutional rights.

Unfortunately, Dersh is useless.
What they’re doing against Trump is going to be done against every Republican presidential candidate in the future.
It will spread to every election in the country, eventually down to the state and local level.
“Eventually” will probably be virtually immediate. The deep blue states will lead the way.
The ones who behave and do their bidding like Lindsey Graham will be fine and can continue to pretend to be the opposition.
Alan does little more than draw chalk lines around the legal bodies.
Without any doubt. The American legal system is in ruins.
The US Supreme Court won’t step in to restore the Constitution.
YOu think Trump is on trial? WHat a laugh. It’s THe tyrannical dirty Dems who are on trial.
America now has little to zero time for the Dems who so carefully rigged the 2020 election.
If they keep it up they will have a civil war on their hands.
“They” are actually after YOU.
They want to charge Lynda too. They go after those in the middle first.
Ordinary Americans have been denied basic constitutional rights for decades now by the ruling elite, but usually the upper class received better treatment in the courts. If they can railroad the legitimate POTUS, they can railroad anyone.
As are all of his persecuted supporters.
If you take the pandemic out of equation, Trump’s administration was the best in American history, from a conservative point of view. And he accomplished all he did under very adverse conditions. t is called the MAGA movement.
Our opponents are afraid another four years of Trump governance would rid or ruin their gravy train, their sweetheart deals, their power influence, fostered over several generations.
These trials are designed to destroy the MAGA movement and it’s leader. It is more than Trump they want, it is MAGA. They are scared to death of it.
Gee, that’s too bad, because they won’t be.
Say what you want about Dersh. Including his trips to Pedophile Island on the Lolita Express.
And he’s certainly no friend to conservatism.
But he knows Constitutional Law.
I saw this earlier and thought it strange.
But I usually don’t read Newsweek.
Trump’s legal time will not be able to get thru 12 million pages in any rigorous way before the trial begins. It is intentional. It is unjust. It is designed to create massive legal bills.
What you are seeing here happens all the time to Americans. They are first over charged. That is followed by massive discovery designed to bankrupt the indicted. It leads to plea deals since the persecuted know that he cannot afford to adequately defend himself. A public defender is not an option either, since they are worthless sacks of chit.
Uniparty is okay with uniparty, thats why.
Wait until they put Trump behind bars.
Actually, even the charges are far-fetched and there’s no way from the very beginning that this can look “fair”, much less be “fair.” (Not to mention constitutional.)
I don’t like Trump and I wouldn’t vote for him, so I’m not saying this just because Trump is the one they’re going after…I don’t think it matters who they go after.
Today Georgia charged a raft of GOPers, including a sitting Senator, just for raising questions about election procedures in that state. The charges are far-fetched and most certainly seem to violate the Constitutional rights of these people, particularly their First Amendment rights.
We have clearly reached a very dangerous point if the leftist party can simply illegalize dissent and we wonder if the trial will “look fair.”
It can’t, because it’s not.
I would like to see some red state DA charge Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, etc. with some crime like inciting riots to show that two can play at this game.
