CNN — Mar-a-Lago IT worker Yuscil Taveras has struck a cooperation agreement with the special counsel’s office in the federal case over former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents, Taveras’ former defense attorney said in a new court filing.
Taveras struck the deal with prosecutors after he was threatened with prosecution, defense attorney Stanley Woodward wrote in the filing dated Tuesday.
Taveras is referred to in the filing and in the superseding indictment as “Trump Employee 4,” and CNN has identified him as that employee. According to the terms of the deal explained in the filing, Taveras agreed to testify in the classified documents case and in exchange will not be prosecuted.
He has not been charged with any crimes.
The filing marks the first public acknowledgment that special counsel Jack Smith has won the cooperation of key witnesses as part of his prosecution of Trump, his longtime valet Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos de Oliveira.

Can’t blame them - ‘cooperate’ or be burried.
This guy has ties to the rats
Fascist abuse.
You're defending rats who squeal on Trump?
The guy is a Democrat !
after he was threatened with prosecution....
Or in laymans speak....cooperate, even if you have to make sh*t up, or we’ll bury you in the DC jail with all the other Jan6th folks.
BTW, are you here legally? What about your family? Are they all here legally? Would be a shame if some of them weren’t and we had to deport them? Maybe even investigate if any are receiving any federal or state benefits in a fraudulent manner. Not sure. Might do that, might not. Up to you.
This is a common tactic of the Feds, they go after the weakest link in the case, threaten them with significant jail time, knowing full well the person can’t defend themselves, offer them a deal to go free so long as they testify against the primary defendants.
You have some basic IT guy that has probably never been in any real trouble, gets a plum job as IT director at Mar-Al-Lago and all of a sudden, gets threatened with years in jail. The majority of people would roll over and testify against whoever the goverment told me to testify against.
Cooperation my ass. The chickensh*t boy bent over for the Feddies and dropped his drawers. Almost like getting waterboarded but more fun as long as you have enough KY.
Flipping should be almost illegal so Tavares is nearly criminal.
“The guy is a Democrat !”
I read a study our HR guy had. I don’t think it was “published” in the mainstream press. It wasn’t on glossy aper, it was just a few stapled sheets. It had to be from a specialist company that tries to warn companies about potential liabilities. Some of the things I recall, the single largest indicator you were hiring a potential lawsuit was if he was “of color” and a Democrat. Of color employees were particularly expensive as the government would provide them with a lawyer if they felt discriminated against. This particular company had a policy of fighting every lawsuit even if they knew they’d lose. They had a general settlement of less than ten thousand. They’d spend many times that fighting, though. The next most likely to sue was a white Democrat. The least likely to sue was a white Republican. The Independents split about fifty/fifty.
I think the reason Republicans don’t sue is, an unhappy Republican simply finds another job. If a Democrat is unhappy, then “somebody” has to pay. In my 33 working years, I left a couple of employers where I was unhappy. I can’t imagine wasting my time in court. The one time I thought it might be worthwhile as the situation was ridiculously egregious, a lawyer told me, “You probably have a winning case. If you were ‘one of the protected class,’ I’d take it in a heartbeat. But you’re white. The bill will be more than you could possibly win. I’d give this one a pass.”
Totally voluntary cooperation
“Testify vs Trump or we will charge you, your family, even your dog…with whatever we want and bankrupt you all with legal bills
And make sure none of you ever works again
And doxx all of you as terrorists…”
What could make for a more reliable "witness"? /s
Watching this whole prosecution is like reading details of a Soviet show trial.
He wasn’t cooperating until the court strong armed him into giving up his original counsel, and using the public defender instead.
Straight up star chamber tactics. Remember, you got a lawyer if you were hauled before the star chamber, but your lawyer was picked for you by the crown. Oh, and jurors would be punished if they voted the “wrong” way.
Now we’ve both both for the first time on American soil.
Dangerous game being played here.
Very dangerous.
His cross examination will be interesting, if it goes that far.
It’ll be interesting to find out just how much access this guy had and if Smith is just making things up as he goes along, in an attempt to get someone to roll over.
From other reporting, pretty much everything Smith does is overturned or dismissed as he has a knack for making sh*t up. Guess that’s the reason they had him stationed at the World Court and then brought him back for all of this BS. None of them care and he’s a hero in their circles for conjuring up some of the crap he’s throwing at the man. Can anyone provide any cases presented to the World Court in the last couple of years or more and what his role was?
Must be nice to collect that government salary and live off the taxpayer in the Netherlands. Everything but your bar tab and groceries paid for by the taxpayer. And if he’s smart, whatever he rents out, he has utilities and a grocery list included in the rent.
“Flipping should be almost illegal...”
It’s an act of cowardice and self-interest, but neither of those should be crimes, or we’d probably have to put 95% of the population in jail.
What SHOULD be illegal is the government using extortion to extract witness testimony. Extortion IS illegal after all, except when the government does it. That’s what doesn’t seem right or fair to me.
The check must have cleared.
Taveras struck the deal with prosecutors after he was threatened with prosecution.
Old KGB agents remember the good old days well.
