It’s an act of cowardice and self-interest, but neither of those should be crimes, or we’d probably have to put 95% of the population in jail.
What SHOULD be illegal is the government using extortion to extract witness testimony. Extortion IS illegal after all, except when the government does it. That’s what doesn’t seem right or fair to me.
