Trump is no Nixon — he’s much worse
The Hill ^ | 09/06/2023 | ALTON FRYE

With former President Donald Trump now facing four indictments, one recalls Lloyd Bentsen’s famous remark that Dan Quayle was no Jack Kennedy. The appropriate parallel today is to say that Donald Trump is no Richard Nixon.

The Trump-Nixon comparisons are facile but superficial and in crucial respects wrong. They ignore fundamental differences between a serious and accomplished public servant whose overwrought ambition led him astray, and a self-centered dilettante whose main interest in government service is to feed his boundless ego.

The contrasts between the two men are far more significant than the similarities.

Confronted with clear indications that his administration’s illegalities would support impeachment, Nixon resigned the presidency to avoid the personal ordeal and to spare the country excruciating divisions. His acknowledgement that he had failed the American people reflected deep remorse.

And I think that if Nixon would not have caved and instead stood up to fight, the political landscape would be quite different today.

There is not a single Republican that the left won’t vilify and accuse of crimes. Not one.

If Nixon would have fought, would the left so brazenly make up lies to attack Republicans today?

I’ve often thought the same thing. If Nixon had vigorously fought the lies and slander and if Republicans had gotten behind and supported him, we would be in a very different world today. The left has had almost zero pushback for sixty years and they are so very emboldened and brazen today because of it.

The CFR is the same place where The Big Guy uttered those famous words “and six hours later...son of a b*tch...he was gone”.

In 2005, Ben Stein said in the American Spectator:

Can anyone even remember now what Nixon did that was so terrible? He ended the war in Vietnam, brought home the POWs, ended the war in the Mideast, opened relations with China, started the first nuclear weapons reduction treaty, saved Eretz Israel's life, started the Environmental Protection Agency. Does anyone remember what he did that was bad?

Oh, now I remember. He lied. He was a politician who lied. How remarkable. He lied to protect his subordinates who were covering up a ridiculous burglary that no one to this date has any clue about its purpose. He lied so he could stay in office and keep his agenda of peace going. That was his crime. He was a peacemaker and he wanted to make a world where there was a generation of peace. And he succeeded.

That is his legacy. He was a peacemaker. He was a lying, conniving, covering up peacemaker. He was not a lying, conniving drug addict like JFK, a lying, conniving war starter like LBJ, a lying, conniving seducer like Clinton—a lying, conniving peacemaker.

So to sum up:

“WORSE THAN WATERGATE”

Roll out Carl Bernstein, it’s time for him to say the thing.

These people are ignorant sheep. Only know what their masters feed them. They are content to live in liberal lies, corruption and crimes.

God bless Trump

Its always been my belief that Nixon would have survived a Senate vote to convict
Did he do the right thing to resign?
It certainly ended that nightmare but it created another.
All the new “ journalists “ want to bring down a repub president.
More than anyone its Trump now.
All the tactics to destroy Trump are being used.
The lies justify the means

“It is called secession.”

That is if we were to leave.

How about we take our Country back, and kick them out?

That wouldn’t be secession, it would be preservation.

Nixon’s real crime was to offer significant support for the Whittaker Chambers’ charges against Alger Hiss, one of the most egregious of Communist infiltrators in American history.

The communist left never forgot or forgave Nixon for that sin.

Whatever Trump is or whatever he’s done, he puts America First. To me, that cancels out any negative. Americans First that’s not let’s start war with other nations or let’s steal the wealth and resources from others. Just put the health and wellbeing of our own country first, then we can help others.
