With former President Donald Trump now facing four indictments, one recalls Lloyd Bentsen’s famous remark that Dan Quayle was no Jack Kennedy. The appropriate parallel today is to say that Donald Trump is no Richard Nixon.
The Trump-Nixon comparisons are facile but superficial and in crucial respects wrong. They ignore fundamental differences between a serious and accomplished public servant whose overwrought ambition led him astray, and a self-centered dilettante whose main interest in government service is to feed his boundless ego.
The contrasts between the two men are far more significant than the similarities.
Confronted with clear indications that his administration’s illegalities would support impeachment, Nixon resigned the presidency to avoid the personal ordeal and to spare the country excruciating divisions. His acknowledgement that he had failed the American people reflected deep remorse.

I’ve seen Nixon’s name come up several times recently. Exactly who started this. I know about, hmm let me see, ZERO MAGA people that would ever compare Trump to Nixon.
These people have no shame. Trump is being indicted for made up crimes. Being indicted does not make someone a criminal. Trump has yet to be convicted of anything. An Dan Quayle was destroyed by a misspelling that he read from a card that was handed to him. It was a complete setup. He might have been the one who beat Bill Clinton. The Hill is a Hill of Bovine Excrement.
This is a great example of The Divide-
That anyone could think like this is just so far beyond any normalcy. There is no way the 2 sides can ever peacefully live together.
National Divorce is the answer.
No Civil War - just Civil Separation

” Trump is no Nixon — he’s much worse”
Biden is like Nixon — only he’s much worse
There, fixed it
Both Nixon and Trump love/loved the USA and fight/fought for it.
Both were endlessly vilified by the press.
Both were victims of the deep state shenanigans.
One was promised an impeachment for no good reason. The other was impeached twice for no good reasons.
Both were hounded to the ends of the earth.
One could take it, one quit.
Much better analogy.
“I’ve seen Nixon’s name come up several times recently. Exactly who started this. I know about, hmm let me see, ZERO MAGA people that would ever compare Trump to Nixon.”
To the media that remember, Nixon was literally evil incarnate. Mainly because, he too, beat the pants off the Democrats several times, beginning with outing Alger Hiss as a communist. Then defeating Helen Gahagan Douglas in 1950. They thought they had him vanquished in after ‘60 and ‘62 but he came back to defeat them again, and then to top it off, he won 49 states and 60% of the vote in 1972.
Unfortunately, he also gave us a lot of liberalism, but he also had large Democrat majorities in Congress.
Nixon’s crime was beating McGovern in a nationwide landslide. No one in the media voted for Nixon or knew anyone who did, so he must have stolen the election and had to be punished.
Trump’s crime was beating Hillary when it was her turn, dammit. No one in the media voted for Trump or knew anyone who did, so he must have stolen the election and had to be punished.
Nope. No similarity.
They want to tie the negative image of Nixon to Trump and say Trump is far worse. So, let’s convict him already and send him to prison for the rest of his life. That’s what they want.
Nixon didn’t do anything Kennedy LBJ or Clinton didn’t do. Except get caught due to a disgruntled fbi official.
Nixon and Trump were both victims of a deep state coup (probably backed by Marxists)
Both get demonized by leftists as they try to justify their wickedness
I prefer the “we win” scenario to splitting up.
It is true believers on each side that are fighting, IMHO. The mass of sheeple in the middle are happy to be led by whichever strong horse emerges, as was evident during covid.
Deflection from the democrats illegally spying on a sitting president.
They wanted Nixon’s scalp ever since HUAC.

The left has to either blame someone or make everything into a crisis…these people are predictable and beyond ridiculous.
“Trump, on the other hand, seems incapable of taking personal responsibility. His consistent response to two impeachments and multiple indictments has been to deny any misconduct on his part and to allege that he is the victim, not the villain. Never mind the damage to the country as he exploits polarization to raise funds for his campaign — and for his legal expenses.”
Trump, on the other hand, really hasn’t done anything wrong, yet he’s been spied on, lied about, smeared, gone through two phony impeachments, one even after he left office, and wasn’t even considered legitimate in any sense of the word, and has now been indicted on made-up charges by democrat operatives and activists.
