GROWING DEEP AND STRONG

One day my mother and I were working together in the garden where we were transplanting plants for the third time. Grown from seed in a small container, the plants had been transferred to a larger container; then transplanted into the garden. Now, because I was moving, we were transplanting them once again.

Inexperienced as a gardener, I turned to my green-thumbed mother. "Isn’t this bad for them?" I asked, as we dug them up and shook the dirt from the roots. "Won’t it hurt these plants, being uprooted and transplanted so many times?" "Oh" my mother replied, "Transplanting doesn’t hurt them. In fact, it’s good for the ones that survive. That’s how their roots grow strong. Their roots will grow deep, and they will make strong plants".

Often, I’ve felt like those small plants – uprooted and turned upside down. Sometimes I’ve endured the change willingly, sometimes reluctantly, but usually my reaction has been a combination. Won’t this be hard on me? I ask. Wouldn’t things be better if things remained the same? That’s when I remember my mother’s words: That’s how the roots grow deep and strong.

Our convoy was halted for an ambush at the top of Mang Yang Pass. The Phantoms helped neutralize the opponents with close air support using napalm and White Phosphorus bombs. Unforgettable experience. Also, thank you CAPT Pfleiger for your service and sharing “the rest of the story.” (Such a seemingly nice guy compared to other fighter pilots.)”

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

Howdy, Kathy.

The little I saw of the Lake Hood cam this afternoon showed a not-so-pretty day up there. The live stream has been messed up the past couple of days.

Today was our last nice day for at least a week. No rain or clouds in the forecast but it’s going to be the hottest week we’ve had so far this summer. NOT looking forward to it. Too bad we can’t send some of this heat up your way. Y’all really haven’t had a summer this year.
