North Korea finally confirmed Tuesday that US soldier Travis King is being detained in the country — nearly a month after he bolted across the border.
King told investigators that he had decided to enter North Korea because he “harbored ill feelings against inhuman mistreatment and racial discrimination within the US Army,” officials said.
The 23-year-old also expressed his willingness to seek refuge in North Korea or a third country, saying he “was disillusioned at the unequal American society,” the North Korean official news agency, KCN, said in a statemen

Once King realizes that without the ability to speak Korean, he has no marketable job skills in North Korea. He will find that life is no fantasy world on the Unicorn Farm.
I hope North Korea does to him what the Turks did to Billy Hayes back in the 1970s: make an example of his sorry little backside and give him a very harsh sentence!

We do not know that. He simply was incorrigible, unfit for military service, violent, would not submit to punishment which he deserved nor military justice. Nothing political at all about it. He fled because he is a nutcase. BAD decision

Oh he will eventually come home. But it will be semi conscious, in an air ambulance, intubated and unable to speak about what happened to him, with a short life remaining for him back in the USA. Mark my word, it will happen.
He got the luxury prisons - He could have been sent to the prison in Sinope which has a nice collection of Medieval torture instruments which are shown to various inmates, including the Iron Maiden. No one lasted more than 5 years.
