Donald Trump seems to get indicted on a weekly basis. Yet he is utterly dominating his Republican rivals in the polls, and he is tied with Joe Biden in the general election surveys. Trump’s poll numbers are stronger against Biden now than at any time in 2020.
What’s going on here? Why is this guy still politically viable, after all he’s done?
We anti-Trumpers often tell a story to explain that. It was encapsulated in a quote the University of North Carolina political scientist Marc Hetherington gave to my colleague Thomas B. Edsall recently: “Republicans see a world changing around them uncomfortably fast, and they want it to slow down, maybe even take a step backward. But if you are a person of color, a woman who values gender equality or an L.G.B.T. person, would you want to go back to 1963? I doubt it.”
In this story we anti-Trumpers are the good guys, the forces of progress and enlightenment. The Trumpers are reactionary bigots and authoritarians. Many Republicans support Trump no matter what, according to this story, because at the end of the day he’s still the bigot in chief, the embodiment of their resentments, and that’s what matters to them most.
I partly agree with this story; but it’s also a monument to elite self-satisfaction.
So let me try another story on you. I ask you to try on a vantage point in which we anti-Trumpers are not the eternal good guys. In fact, we’re the bad guys.

If we support a guy that the swamp accepts, I don’t want the guy. Its simple. That is why its Trump or no one for me. And its why the elect-ability issue is a non starter. Trump would win a fair election. But they will cheat. SO people suggest that they won’t cheat for someone else. Thats crap. I won’t play that game. And frankly if they don’t cheat its proof that I don’t want that guy in office. Trump has great polls right now. He would win right now. I am not compromising with the cheaters.

We omitted key words from his statements. We’ve even made crap up. We’ve back up all the bogus impeachments,investigations and indictments. All the while ignoring the traitorous biden crime family.
Now we are playing dumb because some of the charges against Hunter might stick.

Nope, we see it changing in the wrong direction, that will have dire consequences for the human race. We are committed to stop it from going any further, & reversing it back to a normality that is now missing. Because the stupid amongst, which is rapidly expanding, have no clue what they are inviting in, unrestrained evil.
They will not like what they are now seeking. They will have nothing as is being promised, but they will not be happy.

Not one person I know wants to go back to 1963. Not one.
We were making great strides in race relations by the 80’s, 90’s, and so forth. Somehow electing a black man to the presidency is where it all started going astray.
Obama was the one to begin to fundamentally transform our country, and it wasn’t from his half black African side, it was from his white Marxist mother’s side. Marxism is the problem here, and that’s what conservatives are upset about.
Donald Trump showed what a lie we all had in our government and the deep state. It was very Marxist.
We would like to get Marxism out of our government, and Mitch McConnell has been only too happy to let it grow.
Donald Trump was getting things moving. We have too many regulations that constrain productivity.
The anti-Trumpers are the problem. I don’t hate them, but I’d like for them to give Trump a chance. They never gave him a fair shake while he was in the presidency, and all because they think Hillary was supposed to win in 2016.
In 1963 most married women didn’t need to work.
Housing and college for the kids was affordable.
Archie Bunker could work on a loading dock and afford a house in NYC, a stay-at-home wife, a daughter and a ‘meatball’ son-in-law.
