Breakthrough in Superconductivity: Huazhong University Scientists Report First Successful Replication of LK-99
Beijing Times ^

In a potentially landmark development in the world of superconductor research, scientists at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology have claimed to achieve the first successful replication of the superconducting material LK-99. The announcement came through a video shared five hours ago, that showcases a small flake of their sample reacting to an external magnetic field. This news has sent ripples through the scientific community and industries that stand to be transformed by breakthroughs in superconductivity.

As Andrew Cote, a Stellarator Engineer known for his lucid explanations of complex physical phenomena on Twitter (@Andercot), often reminds his followers, room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductors (RTAPS) are the holy grail of materials science. The achievement of the Chinese team at Huazhong University, if substantiated, might indicate a significant step in this direction.

Someone is gonna have to explain in plain english why this is so important and what consumer technologies this will lead to

I know superconductivity will be important for the transference of electricity to home or building with no loss of power will save trillions of dollars.

Wow.

If I was running an independent lab trying to verify this I would check 5 ways to sunday to make sure I was not wrong.

so if we have some more independent verification in the next weeks I might start believing in Aliens or at least interdimentional beings are supplying tech,

or maybe not. If some black project had access superconductors 60 years ago we could have all kinds of extremely cool stuff that I am only starting to imagine.

Unless the material can be formed into wires and such, not much.

Yeah, that’s pretty much fantasy on par with the Germans hallucinating that Wunderweapons will save them in the closing days of WW2.

Energy is the true source of our entire productivity. It is the true currency of production in everything.

Superconductors at room temperatures would change a lot if it can be manufactured safely at scale.

From Wiki: “ y. A Chinese team at Huazhong University of Science and Technology reported producing tiny flakes that showed diamagnetic levitation, on their second attempt.[29] None produced enough to test resistivity, flux pinning, or specific heat.”

Excerpt from the article in “Sience”:

“ As of this morning, there are (as yet not really verified) reports of replication from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. At least, a video has been posted showed what could be a sample of LK-99 levitating over a magnet due to the Meissner effect, and in different orientations relative to the magnet itself. That’s important, because a (merely!) paramagnetic material can levitate in a sufficiently strong field (as can diamagnetic materials like water droplets and frogs), but these can come back to a particular orientation like a compass needle. Superconductors are “perfect diamagnets”, excluding all magnetic fields, and that’s a big difference. The “Meissner effect” that everyone has been hearing about so much is observed when a material first becomes superconductive at the right temperature and expels whatever magnetic fields were penetrating it at the time. All this said, we’re having to take the video on the statements of whoever made/released it, and there are other possible explanations for the it that do not involve room-temperature superconductivity. I will be very happy if this is a real replication, but I’m not taking the day off yet to celebrate just based on this.”

We won’t be seeing any of this happening in the US. Our scientists are to busy discovering new genders and pronouns.

News is coming out of China... I’ll pass until it’s replicated in several real scientific labs.

Room temperature superconductor doesn’t need liquid nitrogen or extreme cooling to super conduct.

If it can be made into wire or coat a wire, then there will be no resistance and no energy loss across the wire...........
