RINCON, Ga. — A Georgia Lowe’s store employee has been fired after trying to stop thieves from stealing thousands of dollars worth of stuff.
Police said three people came into the store in Rincon and loaded up their shopping cart with about $2,100 worth of merchandise.
As they were trying to leave the store without paying, employee Donna Hansbrough, 68, grabbed the cart, trying to stop them, police said.
[snip]
As for Hansbrough, she was fired from Lowe’s for violating the store’s policy, police said.
She had been employed at the store for 13 years.

Its a resume builder. She’ll get 50X better job offers if she wants them.
There are lots of small and family-run companies who want a loyal employee, who possesses a sense of justice and fair-play.
I never shop at Lowe’s - I got bad feelings the few times I was there.
At this point, why even have cash registers? If these stupid companies just want to encourage hoodlums from ransacking their stores and they want nobody to do anything about it, then have at it, hoss.
My new plan for the weekend is to go to that Lowe’s and steal thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Why wouldn’t I?

...if you’re white and straight, you’ll never get away with it.
Lowe’s was lucky to have an employee who would risk their life, their skin, their bones and their job all so that the store would not lose $2,100 in merchandise.
I feel for her, but how many times have we heard this story before?
Not her specifically.
Don’t try to stop thieves.
Didn’t an older man just die from getting punched at work recently?
If you are going to get fired, it is much better to be fired for violating the company gun policy and for shooting the thieves.
I bet he didn’t steal work boots…
Because you would be caught and prosecuted.
The proper thing for the company to do would be tell her thanks for her efforts but not to do that in the future as it could risk her life. THEN if she violated policy again they could fire her. To fire someone after thirteen years of loyalty to the company over such an issue shows the loyalty goes only one way.
I got the hint.
“Rincon is 20% black”
Then 80% of the thefts should be by whites. Otherwise, Lowe’s is racist.
Correct about loyalty. Who still thinks a large corporation has any loyalty?
People are asked, depending on position, to give weeks to months of notice.
If they drop you, security escorts you out post haste.
2023 isn’t 1950. Corporations don’t care about you.
I worked for Lowes for a short time, I carried a pistol the entire time I was there, never saw a rule against it, and I had a ccw. Mind you I only had to interact with customers for 2 hours before the store closed(overnight stocker) for the night, but I did run into some scary folks in that time and first thing in the a.m.

At the end of that day, you are going to have $100,000 in legal fees and your former employer is not going to contribute a dime.
So sue them anyway.
Heck, might as well go loot the place if you are nearby. No one will interfere now.
