I want to focus on one specific subject: eliminating the Department of Commerce. The three others have previously been targeted by conservative candidates, understandably, but what’s the objection to Commerce? It generally tries to do things that help American business. You could always shut it down and redistribute its functions to other agencies, but that wouldn’t change anything important. What functions is Commerce currently performing that should be eliminated entirely?
OK, Trump, do I hear five! Five? Anyone, do I hear five?
Build quantities huts in nome, AK. The entire depth gets a cot and a land phone, pens and paper. No internet.
Try eliminating the 80%+ unconstitutional portion of the 438 agencies and sub-agencies.
They are all in on “climate science” and AI, both of which can and are sorely abused.
Way to go! That’ll learn that federal government!!
Peeps!!! The Freepathon is REALLY close to ending (this quarter).
PLEASE donate if you haven’t already.
Thanks!
I think if he just achieved a 50-percent cut on manpower within the group he suggested...would at least start things off right. On the IRS....you need to go to a flat-tax...one-page form agenda, and you’d need a majority of House/Senate members to achieve that.
Meh, maybe if he said he would be keeping 4 it would interest me.
Try eliminating 350+ unconstitutional agencies and sub-agencies.
Oh please that’s big talk. He would never could never do it. Just stupid. Pandering at best but not serious. I didn’t say I don’t approve of it. I just don’t think it’s a serious proposal. Why stop at 4? Let’s do Forrest service postal service NPR any climate research ATF FBI Federal Reserve...
Hey!! If I’m elected President, I’ll “seek to” teach pigs how to sing.
*IF* he could and wound to that it would be worth voting for him.
I doubt that the DS will let that happen.
re: DeSantis says he would eliminate FOUR federal agencies if elected president
My favorite radio host when Vivek proposed the same thing 2 months ago:
NOBODY IS GOING TO ELIMINATE ANYTHING.
“I suggest you go vent it there: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4164239/posts“
In before anyone considers your request.
Some people say the Commerce Department has rules that make it harder for businesses to operate. Some of these regulations include licenses and permits that businesses need, reporting requirements that create extra paperwork, rules about the environment that increases costs, restrictions on trade and exports, and regulations related to labor and employment that limit businesses' flexibility. Ask yourself if these regulations are too strict and make it difficult for businesses to succeed.
That might answer your question.
Yeah, they all do. I’ve been hearing the same thing from politicians since the 1980s
The executive cannot waive a magic wand and eliminate a full department. As much as we would like to do it, those departments were established by Congress and the executive cannot simply eliminate them without the same Congress taking action.
Anyone saying this is lying to you.
Other than cutting the budget, I see no positive from it, and the budget cuts are a drop in the bucket that accomplishes little that I can see. Since either you didn't provide, or NBC didn't provide that amount budgeted to the IRS, the majority of the budget cuts may come from that Agency. But neither party will vote to eliminate an Agency that provides them with power, and a tool to attack the opposition when convenient.
If you should ask him personally, and he actually responds, be sure to enlighten the rest of us.
Bottom line is, that this promise is an empty promise from the get-go, because there is no hope of it actually happening.
Which one?
(crickets)
Oops.
Four federal agencies say they would eliminate Ron DeSantis if he’s elected president.
