Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that if he is elected president he would seek to close four federal agencies as part of an effort to reduce the size of government.
"We would do Education, we would do Commerce, we'd do Energy, and we would do IRS," DeSantis said in an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum when he was asked whether he favored closing any agencies.
. . . .
In the current fiscal year, the budgets for the Commerce, Energy and Education departments were $109 billion, $160 billion and $194 billion, respectively, according to government spending data.

In before anyone considers your request.
Some people say the Commerce Department has rules that make it harder for businesses to operate. Some of these regulations include licenses and permits that businesses need, reporting requirements that create extra paperwork, rules about the environment that increases costs, restrictions on trade and exports, and regulations related to labor and employment that limit businesses' flexibility. Ask yourself if these regulations are too strict and make it difficult for businesses to succeed.
That might answer your question.
Yeah, they all do. I’ve been hearing the same thing from politicians since the 1980s
I bid seven, and I will exile both AOC and Jane Fonda to Cuba.
The executive cannot waive a magic wand and eliminate a full department. As much as we would like to do it, those departments were established by Congress and the executive cannot simply eliminate them without the same Congress taking action.
Anyone saying this is lying to you.
Other than cutting the budget, I see no positive from it, and the budget cuts are a drop in the bucket that accomplishes little that I can see. Since either you didn't provide, or NBC didn't provide that amount budgeted to the IRS, the majority of the budget cuts may come from that Agency. But neither party will vote to eliminate an Agency that provides them with power, and a tool to attack the opposition when convenient.
If you should ask him personally, and he actually responds, be sure to enlighten the rest of us.
Bottom line is, that this promise is an empty promise from the get-go, because there is no hope of it actually happening.
OK, 90%+ is constitutional. That would mean eliminating 390+ unconstitutional agencies and sub-agencies.
E.X.A.C.T.L.Y...Plus I think he needs congressional support...
Be careful what you promise, LOL.
Oh, yeah. I’d hate to actually be elected. Worse yet, one of those seven would then bump me off.
A so-called “Flat Tax” is still an income tax!
And, I can (and have) made the case that the IRS under a “Flat Income Tax” regime would be as, if not more, nasty and hateful than they are today!
Please VERY CAREFULLY consider the FAIRtax.

Which one?

Oops.
Four federal agencies say they would eliminate Ron DeSantis if he’s elected president.
Will "they" use the same tactics "they" used on Disney?
He can't even eliminate WOKE in his own state.
I doubt you would last a week with either of those women, and maintain your sanity. I know I couldn't. I doubt I would make it a full 24 hours, with both, before requiring a heavily padded cell. 🤣
Good question.
I don’t know much about the commerce history.
But I do know I have a tendency to go back to the original Constitution and Washington’s cabinet. I tend to think there is too much. Just adding a “secretary” begs having a whole department with their own building, etc. more waste.
Even if the executive branch cuts the federal workforce, what makes you thing congress will reduce the spending?
Oldest tax racket on the books - cut a federal outlay, but keep the taxes coming in. More money to launder back to the campaign.
