Justice Sonia Sotomayor blasted the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision to back a Christian wedding website designer’s choice not to provide services to gay couples, calling the decision “profoundly wrong” in a scathing dissenting argument read from the bench.
“Today, the Court, for the first time in its history, grants a business open to the public a constitutional right to refuse to serve members of a protected class,” Sotomayor wrote.
The associate justice harkened back to the civil rights and women’s rights movements in her dissent, suggesting that in recent years, gender and sexual orientation minority groups have faced “backlash to the movement for liberty and equality.”

That story always troubled me. Each time Pharaoh was about to relent “ God hardened Pharaoh’s heart.” I have never liked the idea that God was responsible for Pharaoh’s sin and not Pharaoh himself. Always made me think of the God of the Old Testament and Jesus as being very different.

Rand Paul was right in pointing out the un-Constitutionality of the Civil Rights Act. However well intended its aims may have been, it expanded the reach of the Federal government beyond its Constitutional limits and was the foot in the door the left needed to impose all sorts of limits on what private individuals can do.
Actually this case was not brought in response to any actual same-sex couple being denied service by the website designer, but by the website designer herself as a preventative measure.

My first thought and what really stood out! In their MINDS obviously those are “the protected class” but where in our laws does it pertain to them as any more protected than any other citizen? It’s like the penalty for killing a federal or any officer of the law is more than the penalty for killing an ordinary citizen???
