Apparently Wagner has succeeded in Rostov, captured the police hq. and left in convoy on the Moscow road. Fighting has been reported at Voronezh which is half way on the 600 miles between Rostov and Moscow. Prigozhin has told people to stay off the highway and they will be left alone. He said anything flying overhead will be shot and apparently 1 helicopter has been put down. Shoigu has fled Rostov, Putin is headed for his secure mansion in Sochi, Lukachenco and family are headed for or are in Turkey, and Sochi is near Turkey. According to French TV (LCI) they talk about a theory it could be a move by Ukrainian secret service having done a deal with Wagner. That would be quite a thing...

Per a translator I heard, Putin compared this to 1917. Stated this is intrigue. That Russia is fighting a grave threat for its future. This is a “mortal fight,” which his government is fighting on behalf of the Russian people. That orders have been given to liquidate the leaders of Wagner.

It has occurred to me that Putin may have decided/been pursuaded it would be a really good idea to end this war, and is using Prig. to make it happen. He might have offered Prig a major office in the Russian military, or he might end the war and send Prig off to Sudan to make money for himself and Russia.
After Putin’s speech, Prigozhen can either win or die. No chance this is a deal unless Prigozhen agreed to kill himself because he has depression or something.
What kind of military genius says to a guy with an air force, I am driving a convoy up the motorway from Voronezh to Moscow, don’t try to stop me?
Either he has an understanding with Putin, or he is risking having this convoy annihilated by the Russian air force.
Then again, if the Russian air force mutinies and refuses to follow Putin’s command, then Putin is basically toast.

I would assume this rat would not make an attempt for the throne unless he believed the odds were on his side. He was quoting the tail numbers of planes allegedly launched to attack him, which leads me to conclude he has people in the government who support him. They’ve shot down 3 Helis so far. Wagner also has its own airforce, though I don’t know its size. He’s capturing stuff along the way too though.
50/50 chance Putin is toast at this moment.
Even if he survives, Russia is going to lose the war in Ukraine.

Let’s point this out: Wagner is now in control of Rostov which is the very city all the Russian invasion of Ukraine is being managed from! Wow.
