What kind of military genius says to a guy with an air force, I am driving a convoy up the motorway from Voronezh to Moscow, don’t try to stop me?
Either he has an understanding with Putin, or he is risking having this convoy annihilated by the Russian air force.
Then again, if the Russian air force mutinies and refuses to follow Putin’s command, then Putin is basically toast.
I would assume this rat would not make an attempt for the throne unless he believed the odds were on his side. He was quoting the tail numbers of planes allegedly launched to attack him, which leads me to conclude he has people in the government who support him. They’ve shot down 3 Helis so far. Wagner also has its own airforce, though I don’t know its size. He’s capturing stuff along the way too though.

I have the impression that the various services, are somewhat competitive in the US. Probably even more so in Russia with all the corruption. The fact the Putin has been restricting the use of his air power because he doesn’t want any of his very expensive planes shot down in Ukraine probably has pixxed off a few air force guys with power in that arm of the military.
