Russians have tactical nukes. A few would severely stop much of the forces. Don’t think they wouldn’t do it with collateral damage to innocent citizens. Our government would. They are worse and harder than us. And less encumbered by laws to do it.
Putin has little choice but to back his MoD and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. A coup against them is a coup against Putin. Hard to figure where this ends. Is there a way out for Putin other than military confrontation in Moscow?

But Putin wouldn’t be able to launch the bomb himself. A dozen different men named Boris with vodka bottles, all with family or distant family in the region, would have to be part of the machinery that deploys and launches a nuke or even just a regular bombing campaign, the latter of which Russians suck at since their usual tactic is to do indiscriminate bombing, not precision bombing. That works fine in an invasion, not so much for internal strikes.
What a dramatic and exciting night, and I was planning to go to bed earlier, 3 am instead of 5:30 am. Best laid plans... Oh, well.

I have the impression that the various services, are somewhat competitive in the US. Probably even more so in Russia with all the corruption. The fact the Putin has been restricting the use of his air power because he doesn’t want any of his very expensive planes shot down in Ukraine probably has pixxed off a few air force guys with power in that arm of the military.

I checked the weather situation, there is a large area of low cloud over the motorway route north of Voronezh and south of Moscow, which would be in the convoy’s interest more so than the air force (perhaps this was part of their planning). Of course this may not be much of a factor if the air force has access to ground spotters.
Basically a small low east of Moscow and fronts lie further south, keeping some low cloud in place all day probably. It is around noon local time there.
This Prizhogin guy does not sound like he would take a life or death risk but he did once run a casino so I guess he is familiar with gambling. Date of birth is interesting, 6-1-61. I have read that some Biblical scholars believe the number of the beast is 616 and not 666. Watch this very carefully.

I have heard it said many times that Wagner operates like a cult. Prigozhen is called “papa” or “father” by his troops.
Great. So replace a corrupt mafia don (pootz) with an outright Stalin II zealot. This will be even worse for russia's neighbors.
I don’t read him as a zealot. I read him as a criminal, which is what he is (he was in prison), an opportunist and a gangster.
That said, he might play the Zealot to keep the loyalty of Russia’s military and legion of 64 year old Babushkas who bray for Ukrainian blood.
I looked at your twitter link at comment #114, and then at the many comments. One states that Kadarov is on the move now. Two armies fighting Putin? Off to Google and more details.
