Republicans can’t win in 2024 unless they embrace early voting
The Hill ^ | 06/21/2023 | MERRILL MATTHEWS

There are a number of actions Republicans could and should take to win big in the 2024 election. But one thing they must do is embrace mail-in and early voting. The good news is that it appears the GOP leadership is trying to do just that. But will it be enough?

According to a Pew Research Center poll from October, right before the 2022 midterms, “Republican voters, who already lacked confidence in absentee and mail voting, are now also less likely to say they are very confident that ballots cast in person at polling places will be counted as voters intend.”

Voting early help Deep State figure out how many votes it needs to steal.

Voting early gives aid and comfort to our enemy.

If you are able-bodied and loyal to our former republic, don’t vote early.

The Hill. If they want something, I am against it, and doubly so when they embrace changes in voting norms.

I respectfully disagree on early voting. Nothing in the constitution about voting early, so it shouldn’t be allowed at all. Nothing about mail in either, yes I know that wasn’t even thought of back then, but still.
Regardless of it all, the election system is broken and really can’t be fixed, especially in blue swing states.

Democrats cannot win if we have one election day, and voter ID.

Did anyone wonder how Florida counted 7.5 million votes and had everything certified and reported before midnight on election day in 2022 and even the Democrats who got their butt kicked in Florida did not complain.

After the fiasco of 2000 and the Bush v. Gore situation it took a few years and a number of changes to the law to get to where they are in 2022.

Florida has early voting, 2 weeks prior to election day, the number of polling places is reduced but they are fully staffed by election workers, picture ID is required.

Florida has a form of mail in voting called absentee voting, a registered voter in Florida has to personally request a ballot and prove their identity in order to vote by mail, no universal mail in voting.

No ballots are accepted after election day, ballots can be requested up to 3 days before the election.

The mail in votes and early ballots cast are counted as they come in, they’re severe felonies for leaking what the vote totals are before the election.

In Florida’s case, it’s easy to vote, ID is required and it’s difficult to cheat and both parties seem to agree and don’t fight about the results.

That’s because dems get a hold of the voter roles and have spent years perfecting use of that data to vote in every non-existent yet registered voter’s name.

They mail them in or fill them all out and bring them in the middle of the night if need be. If there are drop boxes, they just hire people to drop them in bulk They sneak them in the ballot processing place, hide them under the tables to pull out later and run them through, multiple times. .

We’ve all seen videos of all of it but don’t believe your own eyes.

early voting should be for like a day before and hard as hell to do it. ease of use is part of the problem and no F’n mail in voting.

True that.

But it is not the system we have. If we are ever going to win "elections" again, we must do what the Democrats do.

"Vote early and often".

And then if we ever win elections again, we must change the rules. In those changes we must purge the voter rolls and start over. Registrations must include proof of ID and must expire automatically after five years or so unless renewed.

Republicans can’t win because the vote is rigged.

It’s done differently in every state so security varies.

Can they beat ballot box stuffing ? Probably not.
Republicans need to cheat as much as possible to win and then fix voting in the country to make it as as secure as possible
However, I doubt that would ever happen

Republicans can win if early voting, late voting, ballot dropboxes and Dominion software are all outlawed. You got one day, except in the case of military balloting from an overseas location, and even then the vote has to arrive by voting day.

The Hill seeks to trick R’s into allowing early voting, which then tells the rats in advance how many ballots they need to “harvest” (cough, cough, from their printers) in order to successfully steal the election.

‘I respectfully disagree on early voting.’

I said nothing about supporting mail in voting (though it would be useful to study the states that have primarily used it for the past several elction cycles, including blood red Utah); my point is that the party that has the upper hand in total vote totals is going to be in favor of any system that will enable the greatest turnout...

do you think the pubs would bitch about mail in voting if they had a solid chance to win the majority of votes to begin with...?

No it isn’t. I early vote at the precinct every election. I have pins in my hip and knee. Can’t handle the long standing time on Election Day. Early voting in person at the precinct is perfect for me and a bunch of other elderly folks

One day on which to vote
Must present identification.

*************

How do you handle voting for those that are
on the road, not at home, flying planes, on
a cruise ship, driving a cross county truck,
military, etc on voting day?

You don't beat crime with crime.

When criminals run the system that is exactly how you beat them.

Because opposing the criminals is what they consider a crime. Everything else is a minor detail.

We aren't going win "elections" by standing firm on moral principles and appealing to a sense of "fair play" or "justice". The system has rotted out too extensively for civic measures to correct it.

Unconstitutional? "You keep saying that word. I don't think it means what you think it means" (The Princess Bride)

We prevail using methods that we once found repulsive, or we try to pick up the pieces after the system utterly collapses. We have run out of good choices.

The narrative stinks.

Yeah...let’s all vote by mail. I’m sure the USPS would *never* interfere with ballots making it to their destination. /s

It would be unheard of to do this to known republican areas. /s

Maybe I should be able to enter a PIN of my choice on the voting machine and get a paper receipt with the serial number of my ballot - then be able to go online, enter the serial number and my PIN and see my vote.

Or just do all paper, have chain of custody, and open-to-all counting. I fail to understand how I should have more faith in the integrity of my vote when it goes into a mailbox days or weeks later.
