Actor Michael Sheen has today said that he finds it 'very hard to accept' when Welsh characters are not played by Welsh actors, while also taking aim at the Prince of Wales title.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Sheen blasted the 'ridiculous' title of the Prince of Wales.
'It's just silly. I see no reason why the title should continue. Certainly not with someone who's not Welsh.'

So it's not going away any time soon, as long as Wales remains one of the four "kingdoms" within the overall United Kingdom.
I presume it was even more offensive in the vaudeville days when brit actors donned “welsh face”.
Flo King, a rabid Anglophile (Her father was English born, her mother was a Southern Lady) said the title goes back to Edward I, Longshanks, who conquered Wales. His Welch subjects demanded a Welch-born prince, who spoke no English. When his son, Edward (later Edward II) born at Caernarfon Castle, he made him the Prince of Wales. He was Welch born, and spoke no English.
G-d, that was awful. They couldn’t sing tenor or cough up blood from black lung worth sh!t.
Knowing what a lefty Silverman is, Sheen must be a fan of Brexit and Trump. Now I'm on his side.
I can’t tell you how many times I was watching a TV show or movie, saw a Welsh character, and screamed out: “HEY WAIT A MINUTE! THAT GUY’S NOT WELSH!”
Must be why nobody understood him. In Braveheart, he’s portrayed as a limp-wristed poufta, and in Outlaw King, he’s this virile warrior.
White actors should be played by whiteys
How does he feel about a black woman portraying Anne Boleyn or Cleopatra, or a Singapore actress portraying Elizabeth II as a young woman? Or is that ‘different’.
Who is Michael Sheen? Years ago there was a mid-rate actor by that name. Is he still around?
I find it hard to believe that he’s offended by this.
How about STFU!
Ok I can play that game. I’m tired of British Actors playing Americans.(This will put a majority of them all out of work)
Prince of Wails?
Lol the stupid Welsh, always so sensitive about the difference between Wales and England. Nobody in the rest of the world even cares to know the difference, they all live on the same Island. To put it in perspective, it’s like if Michigan’s upper peninsula population demanded everyone else recognize their historical legacy as separate from Michigan proper.
That’s how ridiculous and petty the Welsh are.
“Old man yells at the clouds” is what this sounds like to me.
But nothing beats the ministry of silly walks.
British Royalty is such an anachronism in today’s world that the whole damn thing is just plain silly....................
He played a damn good interpretation of Confederate General Robert E. Lee in the movie Gettysburg.
