Iwo Jima Marine Dodges Enemy Fire While Landing on the Beach American Veterans Center

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MoDWd3lzyI

During WW2, Private First Class John DeGennaro served as a United States Marine during the Battle of Iwo Jima in the 5th Div, 13th Marines Battalion. DeGennaro joined the Marines early at 17-years-old, & was trained in the art of sound ranging. His job was to use microphones to find enemy artillery batteries, then direct fire at those batteries to knock them out. At the end of the Iwo Jima campaign, he & his unit had knocked out 50 Japanese artillery batteries & received a Presidential Citation. Before leaving the island, he witness the first American flag raised on Mount Suribachi through a telescope.

Good evening, radu...did you get any dry time today? Rain?

My rain gauge has a few drops in it, and a couple flying things, from over night. The street was all wet this morning.

Yes, it stayed dry all day for a change and I was able to finally spray that dratted poison ivy. Just had to be careful with positioning since it was pretty breezy and I didn’t want spray on me, but the wind helped it dry quickly.
I’m still irked that yesterday’s spraying was ruined by that out-of-nowhere pop-up heavy rain shower. grrrrrrr

I noticed it was raining up there earlier today. I wish it had been heavy enough to make puddles but at least everything was wet for a while. It’s windy out by the airports now and that’ll just negate today’s rain. *sigh*

I’ve had some nice rides, and Tippy and I are back to 3 mile hikes every morning.

Big Family Wedding on Saturday, so now I’m getting ready for that!

It’s always something, LOL.

Hope all’s well down your way.

That pic is fabulous, isn’t it? Can’t ya just hear the soldier laughing and the dog yipping and squealing with delight as they both fall to the ground? LOL
