Target's CEO said in a recent interview that "woke" capitalism is "great" for their brand and "the right thing for society," but with the corporation's image and bottom line at stake, the retail chain seems to have changed its tune.
Target CEO Brian Cornell made the comment during an interview on Fortune’s "Leadership Next" podcast on May 17, days before the retail chain became the target of outrage from customers and online backlash over its June Pride month collection this year, which includes "tuck friendly" women's bathing suits for transgender people, "gender fluid" mugs, and LGBTQ rainbow-themed clothing for children.
...
The reaction seemingly worried Target management, who took "emergency" action Friday directing some managers and district senior directors to tamp down the Pride sections in their stores over fears of re-creating a "Bud Light situation," Fox News Digital first reported Tuesday, citing a Target insider.

The Stupid is strong in this one.
He “graduated” from UCLA, no surprise
We stopped shopping there when they abolished men and women departments.
We’ll see what he says in a few months.
Haven’t been in a Target for at least six years, probably more like ten.
Haaa!!! Great one!
“Woke” capitalism. ROTFL. The boy ain’t right in the head.
Old-time CEO: Let’s do what’s right for our company.
Target CEO: Let’s do what’s right for society.
Not only is Target’s CEO cheating his shareholders, he’s showing extreme arrogance. Who is he to decide what’s right for society? Stick to competing with Walmart, pal. And let us decide how society should go at the voting booth.
A Bud Light-style reaction would do a lot to show him how mistaken he is. Problem is, Target’s customers are mostly women, not men. Men punished Budweiser. Women won’t punish Target.
There are so many independent options popping up on the internet.
No need for local box-stores much longer.
Missed the whole sustainable business model thing in college. What the are selling cannot and will not last.
Famous last words before the store goes bust? I’m not shopping there ever again.
My favorite picture representing woke America, the black man with the claw hammer expresses his true feelings.

Woke capitalism: ain’t no such thing. Woke and capitalism don’t go together.
Woke means going broke, if that’s what the CEO had in mind. The CEO would sell snake oil in his stores and make it soubd like the cure for all cancers and the prevention against Covid and all viruses.
His largest shareholders are Blackrock, State Street, and Vanguard, and they want this more than anyone else.
Missed the whole sustainable business model thing in college. What the are selling cannot and will not last.
