It sounds like President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have resolved one crucial point on the debt negotiations. They’ve reached the most important agreement — they will avoid a default and take that option off the table.
They came together to list their points of agreement:

That’s going to flip out the left who seemed set on driving us off a cliff. But it looks like now negotiations are moving forward.
Afterward, McCarthy told reporters early Monday afternoon that Biden would need a deal by “this week” in order for it to pass the House and Senate before the June 1 “X-date” when Treasury Secretary Jane Yellen has said the U.S. could default.
Yellen warned Sunday that June 1 is a “hard deadline” for raising the debt limit, and the possibility of making it to mid-June without default is “quite low.”
They’re still not there and it can still go south, but it looks now like things might be finally going in the right direction. They don’t have a lot of time left. They will also have to get the House and the Senate to pass whatever agreement they finally agree to—if they come to a deal.
This is a breaking story and RedState will keep you up to date with any new developments.
“Some here think that because he hasn’t brought down the entire deep state himself by now, he’s worthless.
Doesn’t work like that.”
>>>>>>>
So true!
Even Trump, after 4 years, didn’t manage to eradicate the deep-sate.
Because the deep-state is an oily snake-like Hydra*
*The Hydra is an immortal, many-headed snake who haunted the swamps around Lake Lerna in ancient Greece. It is most famous for its battle with the hero Heracles.
So McCarthy gets the headline today, only fools tomorrow. That’s going to be the typical outcome based on his and other Republicans past history in DC.
We’ll see. Mean time, Brandon blinked, whether it takes or not.
If Kevin caves too hard the conservative caucus may well pull the trigger on vacate the seat and oust him from the Speakership. In these uncertain times being third in line to the throne is especially appealing. He may force Biden’s people to cave to save himself. I wouldn’t bet the farm on it but it could happen.
I sincerely hope McCarthy agreed to eliminate every single Republican earmark in the build back better bill. I know the American public is gonna get shafted, but I'd just like to see those lame duck sellouts get the shaft too for once.
He still hasn’t released the tapes like he said he would.
The possibility of default never existed in the first place. That fear mongering is a scam. There is always money coming in. They could only default if they chose to do it on purpose.
This is a QUESTION, not an assertion: What did McCarthy accomplish here besides ANOTHER blank check to fund the FBI, CDC, IRS, DHS, etc? “Sure, Biden, we’ll pass the bill you need, with no strings attached?”
Default fear Mongering . . .

That’s how this always goes. The GOP postures, but then settles on a few cosmetic cuts from proposed increases that were probably put in for just that purpose.
Both sides claim victory and the republic continues careening toward oblivion.
Because he is a RINO.
With the gop, it’s all about spending cuts. That’s first. Next is what gets cut. That’s where they’ll cave and on spreading out cuts over decades.
With me it’s living on our take home pay and not on any borrowed money at all. I think we take in ~4 trillion in taxes, fees, tariffs, etc.. We are spending ~6 trillion.
I’m just going on memory on those numbers.
His courage and resolve? When he releases all the Jan. 6 videos like he said he would I will agree with you…
When was the last time a bi-partisan deal benefitted the nation?
The debt limit will increase (just in time) and both sides will say they won and nothing changes.
Don’t worry. It will become clearer soon.
Oh we’re saved. /sarc
How is raising the debt ceiling somehow the result of a Biden cave?? We have all the dumbest people, don’t we folks? Hahaha
