Austin's ranking on a list of best places to live in the United States has dropped for the third consecutive year.

The capital of Texas ranked No. 40 of 150 cities on U.S. News & World Report's "Best Places to Live in the USA" list for 2023-2024, which was released this week.

Austin ranked No. 1 on the list from 2017 to 2019. It dropped out of the top 10 for the first time last year as the city's growth made it more expensive and increasingly prone to violent crime and homelessness.

Why would someone want to live in WOKEVILLE?

I thought Houston became that sister city after Katrina? Poor Texas, the more it grows, the less Texas it becomes......

In my opinion, no large city should be among, “the best places to live”.

Gee. When a law abiding Army Sergeant can be convicted of murder simply because he defended himself against a crazy antifa idiot who threaten to kill him, then I can only imagine why Austin is not a nice place to live.

Exactly who creates these rankings? What are the criteria? Wokeness?

I wouldn’t! Minneapolis, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City have all been ruined by leftists!

Austin WAS a really cool place but they have had, for the past 20-30 years, a California fetish. Every nutty idea from the West Coast gets adopted by Austin, including “solutions” for homelessness and crime. The more they take in people from out of state, the more the culture of Texas disappears. They’re becoming L.A. with better barbecue.

Austin has a severe & growing problem with the homeless. I know first-hand.

Texas is fine. It’s the big cities that are taken over by progs. Just like most states. Fortunately, the cities don’t rule the roost...yet.

so... last night in the middle of downtown near the Terry’s Burger stand, driving to an event in Austin, when slowing for a stoplight I am stuck looking at the bare ass of a homeless twit standing but bentover in a wheel chair! Pretty gross picture even for Austin. Don’t know if he was taking a dump or changing clothes but I did not need to see his ugly ass on the sidewalk... so grateful for the leftist and clueless City Council. I try and stay way north in a rural community.

I have some associates that are so fed up with California
they want to leave. Asked where they want to relocate to
they pick Colorado or Austin, Texas.

Both have gone way liberal, and are in danger of turning
into California.

Why would anyone want to make that choice. It baffles me.

We’re in the suburbs north of Austin. The cr@p is coming here too, starting with voting patterns. Trump won our county by 9.5% over Hillary in 2016. Biden won by 1.4% in 2020.

Ha! Austin was #1 place to live, during Trump’s term.

Wake up, Austin Weirdos.

Yeah, the californicates are taking over up there. Move if you can is all I can say. My county is still solid, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see the state go prog in the next 10-20 years. Too many illegals and their anchor babies that vote dim.

....wellllll....not sure I agree entirely with that observation...the Californicators we have met who have moved into our area (Williamson County) are pretty conservative and they have moved here to escape the miserable life in The Golden State....can’t say the same thing for Travis County...pretty liberal compared to other counties...as far as Ciudad Austin is concerned....forget it....have lived in Texas for quite a number of years and have gone into Austin ONCE..that was enough....
