Now, after a long life, I've come to understand how common it is for many basically nice, well meaning people to do terrible things in their lives. When few — that is, on the micro-level — are involved, it may destroy families and communities. When many do it, whole civilizations may be destroyed. It is why, particularly on the macro-level, I care little about niceness. As regards people I rely on outside my home — presidents, teachers, airline pilots, doctors, architects, investment advisers, my rabbi — I don't care fundamentally if I'd enjoy hanging out with them. I care about their work product.
Many, on the other hand, care deeply about niceness. They regularly get blinded by its superficiality and the destructiveness it may conceal. They suffer — we all do — the consequences.
Not being naïve and led astray by niceness is an important rule of life. It brings clarity to how one should approach, especially, the many nice folks in our lives now doing terrible things to our country.
Things are much worse in our country now, decades later. Half of America, tens of millions of basically nice folks are hell-bent on destroying all the core values of this wonderful country. The wall has been breached, the foundation unmoored, the center given way, the abyss entered. We watch each day as virtually every norm, tradition, custom and institution of America has been destroyed or is under powerful assault from many nice people.

EXCELLENT article. Thank you. Posted it on my facebook page, along with some of the comments. Especially like this one: Sorry, these are not “nice” people destroying this nation. Unless their brains are neurologically compromised, people have made choices. A special place is reserved in hell for those who allow children to be harmed and mutilated—whether they are parents, doctors, nurses, teachers, or anyone else responsible for protecting a child.
This is no longer the day and age of 3 television stations and limited media. Everyone who lived through the covid plandemic saw for themselves the lies perpetrated for years and ongoing, related to the manufactured virus, mistreatment of patients, withholding of treatments, coerced “vaccine” injections, the medical and government tyranny resulting in unnecessary deaths. Even mainstream media has admitted many of the “mistakes.”
And after all that, medical monsters willing to defile children’s bodies are somehow to be trusted? Agreeing that a state should take custody of a minor child if parents won’t allow life-altering drugs and surgical procedures?
Those who sacrifice their own children or grandchildren to the Woke religion are not “nice,” they are deliberately ignorant and possessed by evil. I don’t see “nice.” I see monsters pretending to be human.

“Nice people” in this context are people who don’t want anybody to ever get mad at them for anything. Especially anything radical like saying “no” to their excesses.

Unfortunately I must agree. They are loud, shrill, and have nothing to do with their time but to push their agenda. Whereas the conservative women are very busy taking care of their families, and while they vote the right way, don’t have time to push an agenda like leftists do

Did Jesus hesitate at all in telling sinful people that they sinned, and would go to hell unless they repented?
Would you think that taking a physical WHIP and BEATING people with it, because they were defiling something HOLY, would be regarded by your friends as a "decent and considerate" act?
Often, the best way to be considerate towards people, is to tell them the real long term consequences of their behavior.
