Bud Light sales down for fifth week as Mulvaney backlash has no end in sight

Bud Light sales are down for a fifth straight week as the financial beating endured by the Anheuser-Busch brand following its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney appears to have no end in sight.

Sales of Bud Light fell 23.6% for the week ending on May 6 compared to numbers recorded in 2022, according to a report citing data acquired by Bump Williams Consulting and NielsenIQ.

The week before, which ended on April 29, Bud Light saw its sales down 23.3% relative to the same time last year.

Anheuser-Busch, the brewery behind the iconic blue can, has not fared any better on the whole.

Sales for Budweiser were down 11.4% and 9.7% for the weeks ending on April 29 and May 6, respectively, and other Anheuser-Busch brands, including Michelob Ultra and Natural Light, also took revenue hits, the report noted.

The brewery is "running out of time to fix the problem as the summer selling season unofficially started last weekend and Memorial Day is in two weeks," according to Bump Williams Consulting CEO Bump Williams

Kill the brand.

New name, new packaging.

Maybe it’s not too late.

“Sales of Bud Light fell 23.6% for the week ending on May 6..”

They won’t change the name or packaging, they will just encourage the people who are still drinking that horrible beer to buy more.

They have decided to lose millions more than they have to because they will not issue an actual apology. This is because they don’t want to offend the LBGT mob or the fascists at the WEF. It is a choice they have made, to lose millions to placate those two evil entities

When did Dylan Mulvaney reaffirm he is XY?

Personally I’d drink a 7UP before a Bud light, it is that bad. In fact any Budweiser is schiff beer.
Drop the price on the Michelob which has some taste, and dump the other crap.

Beer drinkers such as Bud or Coors are regular.

They acquire a taste and stick with it.

Bud has shot themselves in the dick.

Good. I don’t care how they apologize or what they say...

The only thing left is they can just shut up and go away!

Kill the WHOLE company. All brands. Plenty of good non woke beer out there. If their profit margin is 50%....If they lose that, they invest in other businesses...and their beer making biz goes bye bye. Why would they put their money into something which has no financial return?

“Their ESG scores are all they care about.”

Don’t let them off so easy. Some of them know exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it.

Many said that consumers would return to their usual habits after a week and the initial outcry had gone away. The fact is AB chose poorly. They betrayed their base consumers of their product.

I hate it for the hard-working truck-drivers and distributors who depend upon Bud beer products moving for a living, but we have to draw the line somewhere. For me, that line is the children.

In fact any Budweiser is schiff beer.

I never had a chance to try it, but I imagine Schiff beer is better than the present iteration of Budweiser:

The Eagle Brewery, a very early brewery operated by William Attee and William Lofthouse, was leased by Joseph Schaller and John Schiff in 1850. The brewery was originally on 4th Street, between John and Smith Streets, but was later relocated to a larger complex on the Miami and Erie Canal, near Plum Street. In 1859, the Schaller & Schiff Eagle Brewery produced 42,000 half barrels of lager.

the company announced plans to temporarily redesign the Budweiser and Bud Light aluminum bottles to feature camouflage prints

Oh, the irony! No one is looking for the stuff, so dress it in camo!

LOL

What will NOT go away are Ms Heinerscheid's own words when she focused on Bud Light's "more resonant and meaningful" Super Bowl commercial

25:11..."Yeah! I....I think number one...you know...I'm a businesswoman...I had a really clear job to do, when I took over Bud Light. And....it was...this brand is in decline, it's been in decline for a really long time. And if we do not attract...young drinkers, to come and drink this brand, there will be no future for Bud Light. So I had this super clear mandate. Like, we need to evolve and elevate, this incredibly iconic brand. And...my...what I brought to that, was a belief in...ok, what does "evolve and elevate" mean? It's means INCLUSIVTY. It means shifting the tone. It means having a campaign that's truly inclusive and feels lighter and brighter and different and appeals to women and to men. And representation is at sort of at the heart of evolution. You've got see people who reflect you, in the work. We had this hangover...I mean...Bud Light had been...kind of a brand of...fratty...kind of out of touch humor...and, it was REALLY important that we had, another approach. .
