‘Ambitious’ Biden regulation would 'force' most Americans out of gas cars, critics say

(The Center Square) – Will the Biden administration’s latest energy regulations force Americans out of gas vehicles and into more expensive electric cars? Lawmakers in the U.S. House held a hearing Wednesday tackling that key question.

The hearing, held by the Oversight Committee’s Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee, focused on newly proposed Environmental Protection Agency tailpipe emission rules that the federal agency itself called “ambitious.”

The EPA projects the proposed regulation would mean that fully electric vehicles make up two thirds of all new "light duty" and 46% of new medium-duty vehicle sales by 2032.

The EPA, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment, said in a news release that the rules would improve air quality and would avoid “nearly 10 billion tons of CO2 emissions.” The rule changes still faces a lengthy public comment and approval process as well as avoiding an override from Congress after it is implemented.

“By proposing the most ambitious pollution standards ever for cars and trucks, we are delivering on the Biden-Harris Administration’s promise to protect people and the planet, securing critical reductions in dangerous air and climate pollution and ensuring significant economic benefits like lower fuel and maintenance costs for families,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan said

For the past several years, many of us have pointed out that the left's goals is not to move everyone in to driving EVs. Their goal is to stop American's from private transportation altogether. The elite and politically connected will be allowed to travel freely whether in EVs, ICEs, or private jet. We peons will be limited to walking, biking, or taking the EV bus to nowhere. Thus the promotion of the "15-minute cities where private transportation is not needed (or allowed).

Buy a Toyota now and keep it maintained. Buy a totaled rear-ended one in same model to cannibalize for parts should the factory replacements become banned. (If the demoncraps win 2024 they will absolutely do this)

Will we be required to be happy anyway?

“The EPA projects the proposed regulation would mean that fully electric vehicles make up two thirds of all new “light duty”...by 2032.”

They’re basically saying that if you want to “pay the price”, you will still be able to buy ‘polluting’ (i.e., gasoline) cars in 2032 and beyond...likely at an average price of $100k, though.

They’re getting VERY SMART, as they know the real horsepower to stop their crap resides with the wealthy, and so they give the wealthy a backdoor into keeping their gasoline cars (which any sane person would agree is far, far, better than EVs), but still force The Masses to plug-in every night.

IIRC there was a fed law passed some years ago requiring parts to be stocked for x-years after production ceased. I use it to my advantage. They have to keep parts in stock and they are dirt cheap to clear inventory for newer vehicles.

No “one” person can. We’ve seen what happens when two thousand try to intervene. Where did it get them? These are the days that try men’s souls.

Good advice EXCEPT that these bastards’ plans no doubt include regulations preventing local governments from renewing gas station permits.

They’re gearing up on gas stoves. On deck: air conditioners. The budget the emanates from the House must contain language preventing use of money to pat for these efforts, or else the bureaucracy is going to just keep and going

They want to force people out of their homes and into more climate friendly camps. But one step at a time, with less force and more guile.

Make no mistake. The elites are saving the planet for themselves<\i>.

When the local and highway gas stations start disappearing, you’ll know that the “conversion to ICE” is seriously upon us.

And stop diesel trains. And end all natural gas consumption. And end all farming.

Imagine the costs to replace ALL of America’s natural gas appliances! Plus, there is no electrical generating capacity or transmission and distribution lines to distribute all the phantom electricity across the country and to homes.

Imagine the costs to deliver products with electric trucks?

Who needs food, anyway?

The world works fine. It brings us amazing products at low prices and on time. We have low-cost personal mobility. We can heat and cool our homes. Our air and water are clean. Our sewage is hauled away to huge, clean processing plants. All of this is the result of 175 years of industrial progress.

These bastards want to destroy all of it. All of this is absolute utter insanity and hardly anybody is calling it out for what it is. We are letting them unravel our entire civilization.

[[. All of this is the result of 175 years of industrial progress]]

Well said.

And is also the result of being one of the most modern, advanced and Inovative countries in the world.

Democrats want to ruin all that. Everything they touch turns to crap. They want us living like a third world country while the e.ites enjoy all the freedoms and perks that they have taken away from us.

Priorities of EPA

Parts per billion CO2 : #1

Thousands of gallons of vinyl chloride burnt in open pit creating a phosgene gas cloud that can be seen from orbit: dead last.
