A homeless man's death has been ruled a homicide as protesters took to New York City's subway system to demonstrate his death at the hands of Marine veteran.
Jordan Neely, 30, was shouting and pacing aboard an F train in Manhattan on Monday afternoon, witnesses and police said, when he was taken to the floor by a 24-year-old US Marine veteran from Long Island who is between deployments.
His death has now been ruled a homicide caused by compression of the neck. The decision of whether or not to charge the Marine will be made by the district attorney's office.
Video of the altercation posted online showed the man lying beneath Neely, holding him in a headlock position for several minutes as Neely tried and failed to break free.
A second passenger pinned Neely's arms while a third held down his shoulder. It was unclear why the group had moved to restrain him. Neely lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at a Manhattan hospital shortly afterwards.
On Wednesday, protesters began assembling at New York City's Broadway-Lafayette subway station, where Neely was taken to the hospital from, to protest his death. Chants of 'black lives matter,' 'justice for Jordan Neely,' 'F*** Eric Adams' and 'the homeless matter' could be heard, reports Gothamist.

Women in particular will need to find other means of transportation or else become the next Bernie (Bernadette) Goetz.

The homeless man's father Andre Zachery' said in a tribute today: 'Jordan was a good man. He was a good person. He grew up good. He always had a (temper), but he never used to hurt anyone ... He wasn’t bad. He was beautiful.'

In a more genteel age the local pipefitter’s union would take care of that rabble of commie scum.
It is sort of like Bernie Goetz. If they don’t enforce the law, this sort of thing will happen. That clown pushed someone on to the tracks a couple of days earlier and was let out. You keep seeing incidents like this where people get violent with criminals who are not prosecuted.

The homeless guy was ranting that he wanted food and water. That he didn’t care if he went to prison - or if he died. Then he threw his jacket on the floor.
That might be enough to be in fear of one’s safety. Had in a clenched fist and moving towards somebody - most definitely.
Trying to find the actual quotes that I read the other day but I can’t find them. Only thing I can find is that “he said he was hungry and thirsty”. And then some white dude killed him and didn’t get arrested.
One of the witnesses stated that the guy was still difficult to get under control, and if we thought he might die that we would have stopped restraining him.
I meant “had he had a clenched fist...” Who knows if he did, or if there were other small actions that could be perceived as the beginning of possible violence.
