Donald Trump’s campaign has called out Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a new TV ad for “attacking” the former Republican president and one-time ally — and suggested the governor should drop out of the race before he even gets in.
“Ron DeSantis was struggling big time in his primary race for governor of Florida,” says the ad’s narrator, referring to the 44-year-old’s first gubernatorial run in 2018.
“Polls revealed DeSantis was failing so bad, he was losing by a staggering 17 points,” the narrator adds. “Then DeSantis was saved by the endorsement of President Trump.
“Trump’s support was so powerful, just two days after the endorsement, DeSantis took a commanding lead and it propelled him to being elected governor.”

Dear Mr Trump, he hasn’t “dropped in” yet.
The game plan IMO should be to focus on Biden 24/7, to the point Whoopi and other Biden supporters wear themselves out trying to defend him. Turn the White House into a rhetorical fire bombed version of Dresden. Trump’s lead over DeSantis will grow, because that’s not Ron’s style. It’s just apparent to me that we need to be more raucously negative than the Democrats have encountered in the past.
BTW, had two DeSantis mail pieces in my mailbox the same day here in Iowa. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on? ;-)
Trump sounds like a whiny little baby, waaaa, waaaaa. I voted for the guy twice and not only does he sound like a cry baby, but he’s pathetic and sounds like he’s terrified of DeSantis. How about sticking to the issues??
Who the hell are you trying to fool? DeSantis most certainly has been planning a Presidential run. Florida is in the process of revoking a law that requires the governor to resign if he or she wants to run for President.
Let’s get this right. You oppose the Ukraine war but all behind DeSantis, who flip-flopped and now supports it? That is incredibly bit of hypocrisy.
I'm glad it crossed someone else's mind. I took care of my mother for 6 years when she had dementia. The changes in her mood, personality and behavior were very, very subtle at first, she would make things up and get fixated on one thing and just would not let it go, kinda like Trump with DeSantis. Either that or Trump is very insecure about DeSantis, but regardless, his behavior is very odd.

The last I heard the office of POTUS is not a public office of another state, district, county or municipality, “Governing law: An elected or appointed “officer” may not qualify as a candidate for another state, district, county or municipal public office if the terms or any part of the terms would overlap with each other if the person were to be elected or appointed and did not resign from the office the person presently holds. (s. 99.012(3), F.S.)”
This is Florida law. 2020 law prevented him from running but 2022 law does not.
“99.012 Restrictions on individuals qualifying for public office.—
(3)(a) No officer may qualify as a candidate for another state, district, county, or municipal public office if the terms or any part thereof run concurrently with each other without resigning from the office he or she presently holds.”
Until he actually files to qualify he doesn’t have to resign. He simply has to resign 10 days before qualifying.

“You and the rest would have voter for Jeb if there was no Trump.” In general you don’t know that and in my case not true at all. I had for years been among few in the GOp calling the establishment Dims like the Clintons and the establishment GOP with the Bushes as a political duopoly and how we did not need to honor any political dynasty as a public interest good.
As far as Desantis, I’d rather he did not run; I’d rather he remained governor of Florida where he has done a good job.
None of that changes my view of how I think Trump is conducting his campaign, or that it was the GOP grass roots that paved the way for Trump, not the other way around.
