A Washington mom-of-three slammed her local school board for canceling music lessons for fourth graders after a school board member alleged it was rooted in 'white supremacy culture' and 'institutional violence.'
Alesha Perkins blasted Olympia School District members after they voted last week to halt band and orchestra classes amid a million-dollar budget shortage.
Perkins called out School Board Director Scott Clifthorne, who argued that the school district was 'entrenched in… surrounded by white supremacy culture' at a meeting of concerned parents last week.
Clifthorne argued that music lessons beneficial but inequitable since students at certain schools can miss out on 'core instruction.'
But, Perkins argued that Clifthorne's narrative was false and lacked evidence.
'We have reached a level of absurdity in our school district, among our school board and our leadership that is just hard to ignore at this point,' Perkins told Fox & Friends.

Exactly...
These parents are utterly stuck in cement; they just can’t move to a freedom loving site; they just can’t put their child in a private school; can’t get a music tutor. It’s about like watching a Baptist complain about the ordinances during a Catholic mass. Washington State is lost and its time to make adjustments.
During ancient times, when the usurper,Jeroboam, was establishing Israel’s false religion with a new pagan priesthood and a golden calf, the Levites and God-fearing people left apostate Samaria and went to Judah. They didn’t hang around and wait for a change.
These parents have a case for libel. The school board called them all white supremacists and violent.
I’m a Bach fan as well. Liz Storey, too.
“after they voted last week to halt band and orchestra classes amid a million-dollar budget shortage”
That’s reason enough to cancel it
Fred rocks.

Also, playing Mozart for babies, even in the womb, helps kids with math later in life.
+++++++++++++
Letting the baby be born and live also helps .... in later life. But that is a different subject to be had with the same ghouls “teaching” the chill-ren
The poor guy is trying to balance the budget and everybody is picking on him about it. And in the state capitol.
The narrative expressed by Clifthorne is cliche and racist. Someone should ask him at the next board meeting, “Why do you continue to push this racist narrative that people of color cannot achieve at the same level of whites?” Why do you wish to have our kids taught at a lesser level than other kids, isn’t that dereliction of your duty as a school board member? Will you be announcing your resignation now, or after a formal no confidence vote in public?”
“Mom-of-three blasts Washington school board for canceling music lessons...”
Maybe they could meet in the middle...Four Tops, The Supremes, Otis Redding maybe, Jimi Hendrix even. I’m sure there’s some middle ground for both parties.
In the same year as the Detroit riots (’67) our northern suburban public schools’ 3 and 4th grade music teachers had us singing “Jimmy Crack Corn” and nobody complained...WTF!
I wonder what playing rap will do to children in the womb.
“ If a white person uses the black’s treasured phrase, ‘white supremacy culture’, isn’t that blatant ‘cultural appropriation’?”
Sounds more like guilt or fear.
The problem is not the school board. The problem is the people who elected the school board.
I think we've seeing the results.
Roll over Beethoven - tell Tchaikovsky the news.
I don’t understand how this music program is “white supremacist.” It makes no sense.
Our town once tried to cut the music program for budget reasons, but (of course) the public school parents and their kids protested.
This WA school board needed to make budget cuts. Maybe they came up with this bogus excuse to cut music because they expected no backlash to a leftist argument in Washington.
If the school board needs to cut a budget, there’s no need for excuses. Let parents pay for their own children’s music lessons. Music, sports, and other programs should be slashed, and school taxes should be lowered. In Washington state, the average cost for public school is now $21,000/year per student: https://www.publicschoolreview.com/average-spending-student-stats/national-data
Parents, you’re paying for public school through your taxes, but you’re not paying the whole bill. The other taxpayers without kids in public school are covering it for you. You have to learn to accept budget cuts. It’s fine to take advantage of the “free” education. You’re forced to pay into the system, so go ahead, but start seeing public school for what it is. It’s no different from other forms of welfare. When you send your kids to public school, you’re a welfare recipient. Your child needs to learn the three R’s. No child “needs” music lessons.
This was a stupid reason to cancel a music program, but go ahead and cut the music program for budget reasons.
I watch folks out there trashing Trump after his term in
office, totally ignoring the performance of Biden. They
are actually convinced Biden saved the nation. They are
convinced he built back better.
Now some of them do get it, and a lot of folks have
woken up, but there is a massive number of people out
there that have seriously lived out the cartoon I created
to show man reaching a pinnacle, and sinking back into
the primordial slime.
Addressing people not wanting homosexual grooming
books to be left on the shelves of children’s book areas,
as the same as supporters of Hitlerian book burning, is
just sub-human logic.
And some of them are proud to be known for this logic.
Simply amazing.
