Ukraine’s military has set up positions on the eastern side of the Dnipro River near Kherson city, the Institute for the Study of War cites Russian military bloggers as saying.
Infiltrating the area could be a first step towards trying to dislodge Russian forces from positions they are using to shell and shoot at Kherson. The constant attacks have made it impossible for residents to return to normal life months after Ukrainian troops liberated the city from occupation.
Ukrainian military forays across the river could also mark the first tentative steps towards launching a long-awaited spring offensive to reclaim more territory.
“This is the first time ISW has observed reliable geolocated imagery of Ukrainian positions on the east bank along with multi-sourced Russian reports of an enduring Ukrainian presence there,” the thinktank said in an update.
The Russian military bloggers said Ukrainian forces had established stable supply lines to their positions and “regularly conduct sorties in the area”, the ISW said.
The reported positions were in marshy areas of islets and tributaries near the settlements of Oleshky and Dachi, the report said. Russia still holds those settlements.
A Ukrainian military spokesperson for the southern region declined to comment on reports that Ukrainian troops had achieved a foothold across the river.

Again, that is so 18th century thinking. Do you think we retook Kuwait, or eventually took Iraq and Afghanistan by fighting a war of attrition? (I am discounting the eventual loss of both due to stupid politicians stepping in after the battle was over).
The west is teaching Ukraine how to use the weapons they are providing (i.e. the tanks and more that have not seen combat in Ukraine yet). They will be instructing them in MODERN effective combat techniques.
It is stupid to fight wars of attrition and even Putin knows that. He isn't doing that because he is holding back. He is doing it because his army is a paper one, decimated by decades of neglect and corruption within, and he has no choice.

We’ve been inundated here on FR with Ukraine propaganda for over a year and you’re calling people who disagree with you “idiots or propagandists?”
Both sides suck and are as corrupt as the day is long, but the Ukraine propaganda had far outweighed the Russian propaganda on here to a point where it’s just ridiculous. There are at least two people here who post daily, replying to themselves and their acolytes over and over with a multitude of links (does anybody really read that stuff?) to keep the threads actively spamming the news feed. Then there are others who post multiple Ukraine propaganda threads daily, sourcing from blogs and British tabloids.
That’s why it’s laughable when a Zelensky supporter complains about “propaganda.”
He is that, but he is also much more. Biden and the people controlling him are extremely evil and destructive. They are driven by hatred, anger and a desire for total power. Brush off Biden and his henchmen and what they’re doing and what they want to do at your peril.

I don’t give a rat’s derrière who’s posting about who’s winning or losing, my point was that the Ukraine propaganda has far outweighed the Russian propaganda on here.

My entire motivation for posting is so that FR will not appear to have been dominated by crazies, and to show a little support for the many people here who oppose the Russian invasion.

We live in a real world, the war didn’t end, and it’s not about homos.

Ukraine has no air support, its air defenses are failing. Any large formations of troops will be targeted and relentlessly bombard.

Russia repeatedly tried to prevent his war. 1) The Minsk Agreement, which now looks like a sweetheart deal for Ukraine 2) In December of 2021 when they came to use with their security concerns and sought to negotiate and 3) In Turkey in March of last year when a peace deal to end war was nearly reached, a peace deal we and the British undermined.
The war is ONE THE BIDEN REGIME AND OBAMA REGIME BEFORE THAT WANTED. We fomented an illegal coup in Ukraine that a set off a civil war. We sided with Ukrainian nationalists and neo-Nazis that went onto persecute and commit genocide against the ethnic Russian population. We tried to cutoff Russia's naval base in Crimea, one it has maintained since 1783. We teased NATO membership for Ukraine, this after promising Russia no westward expansion of NATO in the early '90s. We armed Ukraine with lethal weapons. And, we were running 29 biolabs with deadly pathogens in them in Ukraine>
