McDonald’s Corp is temporarily closing its US offices this week as it prepares to inform corporate employees about layoffs undertaken by the burger giant as part of a broader company restructuring,

McDonald’s said in an internal email last week to US employees and some international staff that they should work from home from Monday through Wednesday so it can deliver staffing decisions virtually,

During the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,” the Chicago-based fast-food chain said

This is happening with widespread regularity. And yet the propaganda mill will still report that unemployed “keeps falling.”
Everybody is being more careful. We shop Aldi’s and Cosco. I’ve noticed that beef and fish have gone up over the last couple of weeks which is making me worried that a fresh new wave of inflation is coming.
I thought groot said the Micky D’s CEO was lying about shitcago being an unsafe and nonbusiness friendly environment?
We still get a daily breakfast item for $1, which we use once or twice a week.
My local McDonalds does a heavy morning business and an appreciable lunchtime flow. But I never see anyone sitting inside - almost all of the traffic is through the drive thru.
It was ‘remodeled’ to go automated ordering and paying and the number of employees was drastically cut. Frankly, it looks horrible inside and the employees they do have don’t seem to be all there mentally, IMO.
I started working nights and weekends at McDonalds in 1964 when I was 14 and worked there until I got drafted in 1968.
The fries were real. Peeled, cut, processed, blanched and fried right here in oil that they don’t use anymore. The beef was real and the milkshakes were real - straight from large ‘cow’ (tank) that got filled up regularly and then used to refill the shake machines.
If you eat any of that now, it all seems artificial, and the fries taste like Styrofoam by the time you get them home just a mile away.
The only real good stuff are the Egg McMuffins (which are sloppily thrown together and nuked) and the McCafe coffee. The hashbrowns? They never fry them enough and most times just a very light brown mess of potato mush. A passable drivetime breakfast, I guess. At least it was until they doubled their prices.
The hamburgers we’ve been eating in town run $11-16 per. This particular burger has been reduced 37.5% in size since pedo-bidet stole office. McDonald’s food is a nightmare by comparison and not much less expensive now. It’s easy to understand given the degradation of quality, the newfound sensitivities to preservatives and other culinary artifice, why McDonalds would be headed towards the financial abyss.
McDonalds having layoffs? Every one of them around here have a now hiring sign posted. Probably the fact that their food is so shitty to begin with, reduced portion sizes, and higher prices may have something to do with it.
Wendy’s has a $5 biggie bag or a 4 for $4 bag. Chicken or hamburger sandwich, 4 nuggets, small fry and small coke. We do that a lot. Wendy’s fries are better now than Mc D’s also.
Maybe headquarters is bloated, but my local MickyD just CANNOT get workers!
That’s not how it worked where I was when I got fired.
I had to go through a hearing and make my case. If I had been laid off it would have been automatically approved.
Things change so maybe it’s not like that anymore.
The fired staff will be able to collect their personal pictures and stuff in a kinkos box at the front gate ?
Last December, due to a shortage of Kinkos Boxes in this area, my wife bought a dozen folded generic bank boxes to give to friends. (same size as Kinkos’ when unfolded/)
YTD, we have given out 6 of those boxes. 4 for relatives and 2 for friends. We suggested to take the boxes to their offices and leave them unfold until needed.
One husband wife combo used one each during the Christmas holidays and one post New Years.
McD stock up $1.70 this morning.
Hmm, interesting. I wonder if it varies by state. States have all different kimds of employment laws, so it probably does.
Imagine that
