I was at the dentist’s office watching it on TV as I waited in the chair. Just as she walked in she took notice of what was going on. Then Biden came on live with his flippant remarks and the reaction of his audience. We both felt the same way about it but after a few minutes of trading speculations, she asked if I would mind if she turned the TV off before commencing with the task at hand and I said “go for it, Doc! “. However, as she continued her work, she let out a sad kind of a sigh and looked up at the TV again even though she had just turned it off.

Your argument is true if we’re talking about fast food franchises, or what leggings to buy for the wife, but where it matters, you either have monopolies or the guiding hand of government regulators telling those “free consumers making their choices” how to choose.
Big business in the US realized a long time ago that the key to success in many cases is engaging government, i.e. government contracts, or regulatory policies which favor their business. In fact, if you look at some of the wealthiest folks in the US today, you’ll realize much of their success came by utilizing government: Bezos, Bourla, Gates, Buffet...
Government has the deep pockets, but also is the one that can force people to buy your product or eliminate competition.
If you’re a Zuckerberg and are worried about having Meta broken up because it’s a monopoly, what will you do? If you’re a Buffet and a pipeline will cut into your railways profits, what will you do? If you’re a Bezos and >75% of what you sell is made in China and the guy in power is leaning on trade with China, what will you do?
That free market / freedom stuff is cute, I learned about that in college in 1991 also... It’s a load of shit.
The difference being that the price controls in place will fall away. Realize, because the government helped pay for the rapid development of these vaccines and had a huge input, there is substantial government control.

Of course these policies cost people their freedoms, incriminate some and get them all wrapped up with the law, destroying lives, cost the tax payer enormous sums so some idiot from the ATF can measure a barrel length, write a policy on what defines a bump-stop, or some moron from the DEA can define marijuana as a schedule 1 drug... But they are merely the sacrificial lambs in what are political games so that folks like Biden or a Bush can get and stay in power.
