Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Friday signed a package of bills repealing the state's so-called "right to work" law that allowed workers to opt out of unions, a long-sought victory for labor organizers facing an era of diminished power. Whitmer became the first governor since the 1960s to roll back right-to-work legislation.

>> The most powerful unions in the state are the teachers’ union and public employees union.

Yes, that’s what repeal of right to work law is all about.

Ironclad control over the indoctrination of our youth
Ironclad control over the state’s electoral process

They could care less about miners, pipefitters, electricians, ironworkers and the like. Exhibit A: Keystone pipeline. Exhibit B: Minnesota iron range.

“This is what the majority of Michigan voters want. So be it.”

...I don’t believe that. The large democrat cities that don’t know their butts from their elbows about history or economics yes. And a lot of them don’t vote. They’re quite happy in their public housing, EBT cards and video games smoking “medical” marijuana and sleeping until 2pm.

Only 6% of the private sector workforce is in a union.

The silver lining in that cloud is that Michigan’s population is also going to keep shrinking relative to the rest of the U.S., too.

I have traveled all over the U.S. for my work. One thing that always astonished me about Michigan was that so many places I visited there had unmistakable signs that they once had larger populations than they do now.

A win for unions.

Not for the rank-and-file.

This is interesting...

https://usafacts.org/data/topics/people-society/population-and-demographics/our-changing-population/state/michigan

“...Michigan’s population increased 9 out of the 11 years between year 2010 and year 2021. Its largest annual population increase was 0.8% between 2019 and 2020. The state’s largest decline was between 2020 and 2021 when the population dropped 0.2%....”

Interesting timing, eh?

I believe the Dems will try to override state rights in union legislation. No matter where you are, you’ll be forced to join a union.

There have been recent articles about how China is getting into manufacturing in Michigan (buying land and building facilities). I wonder what China thinks of this right-to-work law.

This is what the majority of Michigan voters want. So be it

I don believe that for a minute.

The democrats have been busy installing themselves in positions of power through vote fraud for decades and the voters have little, is anything, to say about it.

This is what happens in a dictatorship, which is what too many states are becoming.

If so, so be it indeed, but union membership has been declining even in Michigan, so who’s voting for this other than the vote-buying politicians and six-figure-salaried union bosses? Does negotiating a contract every so often warrant that kind of pay?

The “Detroit fraud machine” you speak of costs a lot of money and Right To Work meant less money from workers paying union dues going to the Democrat party’s election theft and fraud department.
