Former President Donald Trump experienced yet another boost this week amid rumors of a looming arrest, the latest Morning Consult survey, released Tuesday, found.
This week’s Morning Consult survey demonstrates gains for the former president, as he now has 54 percent support — up from 52 percent recorded last week. Meanwhile, his closest potential competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, lost two points, going from 28 percent to 26 percent. In other words, Trump’s lead jumped from +24 to +28 in the last week:
No other potential candidate comes close, as former Vice President Mike Pence remained consistent, coming in third place with seven percent support. Presidential candidate Nikki Haley followed with four percent support, and former Rep. Liz Cheney came one point behind with three percent support. No other potential candidate saw greater than one percent support.
Morning Consult described Trump’s lead as such:
Trump Continues to Lead DeSantis: As Trump awaits potential indictment on charges related to a 2016 hush money scheme with adult-film star Stormy Daniels, he has posted one of his largest polling leads in the 2024 Republican primary. The latest survey shows 54% of potential primary voters support the former president, compared with 26% who are backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, tying his expected opponent’s lowest level of support since tracking began in December.

The best ticket would be Pompeo/DeSantis. DeSantis needs to gain foreign policy experience from Pompeo. It will make him an excellent candidate for President in 2032.
Whatever you are smoking you need to drop it...unless you are a troll...Pompeo has no constituency...just another ego driven Washington insider.
To be frank this nomination race is not competitive it is MSM trying to make it a horse race...Desantis is joke, a Jeb Bush, Scott Walker type who does not know his limitation
...it is “Never Trumpers” driving and funding him...they say he is smart...if his polls numbers are not within 10% of Trump on average come August and he still runs...it is to damage Trump for general election.
NONE of this will matter unless/until the cheating is stopped.
I think the core issue is he wasn’t being a team player.
Vivek Ramaswamy came out against an indictment early even though he’s running against Trump. That’s what is called being a team player.
It’s called knowing an indictment will only help Trump.
DeSantis chose poorly. Going up against Trump and 75 million America first folks, was not a real good idea
————————————————
DeSantis certainly did make a poor choice. He chose to throw his support behind Trump yesterday and look what happened. He is being attacked by you people and by Trump himself.
“DeSantis chose poorly. Going up against Trump and 75 million America first folks, was not a real good idea.”
Agreed
Tallahassee Ron crapped the pool.
Zero future.
Roll MAGA, roll with our PDJT, the GOAT!
Trump was at 24% in August 2015 in a crowded field.
1-3 is the greatest of all time?
In support of that point of view, the last politician whom the DC/party insiders insisted was smart was Paul Ryan. Then he looked a total clueless fool when debating Biden during the VP debate and I was left scratching my head...that was the guy they all said was so smart...a policy wonk par excellence...seriously? I never believed another so-called expert/party insider again.
Look, the Trump cultists are having a circle tug over poll numbers again.....
I call into question HIGHLY any poll showing Desantis above 20% among Republican Primary Voters with Trump as an option.
I’d want to see the internals.
I know the GOPe/NeverTrumpers are media are going to push him hard, but I really think Desantis is a fool to try to go head to head. Odds of him harming himself long term far outway the odds of him winning.... Looks like he’s on his way to pulling a Cruz.
Only reason I could see for him to throw his hat in would be to start building a network for a 2028 run... and bow out gracefully early. Attacking Trump is a fools errand among Republican Primary Voters.
The depth and breadth of Trump’s supporters is like NOTHING that has been seen in modern American politics. The establishments willingness to do anything and everything to try to stop him is just going to keep backfiring.
Out of that crowded field, who had 60%? Your girl Hillary.
Even worse, pulling a Jeb!
Desantis is looking like he’s about to fill the role played by Cruz/Rubio/Jeb in 2016...
He’s being attacked because he tried to throw a cutesie jab against Trump yesterday, and it backfired big time...
The lack of understanding of the breadth and depth of Trump’s support continues have folks utterly miscalcuate.
Desantis has no shot at winning the primary with Trump in the field... NO one does. If Desantis was as smart as Fox News wants to tell everyone he is, he’d stay low key, build his donor network and quietly bow out after he has that established, and leave the attacks on Trump to his surrogates.
Directly attacking Trump is far more likely going to harm your long term political career than it will Trump.... I know Desantis has the GOPe and NeverTrumpers circle jerking over him and whispering every platitude they can think of into his ear right now, but honestly I think he’s being a fool.
Risk of him harming his long term prospects like Cruz and Rubio both did in 2016 are far greater than any odds he’s going to win.
And to the Desantis backers out there, if Trump wasn’t in the field, this would be a different dynamic, but he is, and trying to pretend he’s not is delusional.
Same group telling everyone Desantis is a winner and can take out Trump, are the same bunch of apes that told you OZ was a winner....
Short of a black swan even of incredible magnitude, Trump is the 2024 GOP Nominee, and it won’t even be close.. and the more the establishment keeps trying to do anything to knee cap him the bigger his winning percentage for the nomination will be.
It makes Trump look good if the government wants to arrest him
“Look, the Trump cultists are having a circle tug over poll numbers again.....”
Calling Trump supporters cultists is akin to calling the Catholic Church, (the church with a number of followers greater than all the other religions put together) a cult. Neither are perfect, but their certainly not a cult. A cult would be an outlier.
I might put a vanity on this, later this week when I get paid.
But I have to ask people now a rather simple question that may open some eyes.
If you had the power to fix all of this, would you?
So many people wish they had the power to fix all of these problems. If I had that power, I would certainly do it. Even at close personal risk to my own health and life. It’s worth it to save the country.
Right now there are 2 people who can save our country and by proxy - the world. They have the means, the resources and the proven experience to do the things that need to be done to save the entire planet. The entirety of the human race - even those behind iron curtains and in complete servitude to oppressive tyrants.
All they have to do is put aside singletary power and team up. If Trump and Desantis were to simply team up the entire world could be saved.
If you had this power, what would you do? They have this power, what are they doing?
Why ?
Please explain how Ron DeSantis has no political future because of what was said yesterday.
Desantis has no shot at winning the primary with Trump in the field... NO one does.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Correct. And as a DeSantis supporter, I admit that. And the only way Trump is not in the field is when (not if but when) Trump and his big mouth/ego cancels out his chances.
No idiot Manhattan DA will defeat Trump. No brilliant Florida governor will overtake Trump.
Trump’s biggest enemy is Trump. And Ron DeSantis will be there to pick up the pieces when Trump finally and completely self destructs.
But understand this. I could be wrong. Trump may reverse course and win. And if so.... GREAT! I will happily vote for him. Just as I would happily vote for RDS.
Conservatives can’t lose in ‘24.
