Is that really harassment, disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace? Seems very ticky tack. Looks to me more like somebody who was acting like an A-hole. She deserves whatever public scorn she gets for her totally rude and uncalled for behavior, but I don’t find this conduct to be criminal.
“She voiced her opinions. She didn’t threaten or intimidate anyone.
None of her opinions are crimes - under the US Constitution, they CANNOT be crimes.
This is not Germany, we do not have a Grundgesetz. And people who think we should have one are traitors.”
I don’t own a business but if I did I would play anything I damn well please on my TV or radio and if a customer has an objection they can politely express it. But when they start to create a disturbance and refuse to leave, that’s when we have a problem and the police will be called to remove them for trespassing. If they want to protest something they can do it OUTSIDE.
“She said her connections to immigrants include grandparents from Ireland and a best friend who is Puerto Rican...”
If she thinks her friend from Puerto Rico is an immigrant, she is really stupid.
Be glad we live in the United States unlike other shitholes where this can happen.
It’s Philadelphia Jake
Speech - The US government has no Constitutional right in this case.
Disturbing the peace - Fair game for local laws and enforcement.
No one should make a Federal case of this!

There is a law for every situation................
If Americans don’t wake up and take on all anti Constitutional and anti Bill of Rights political ideology now to establish precedence we are headed for bad times.
We need to create and fund a true American Civil Liberties Union that will take the battle of freedoms and rights to court immediately, instead of allowing leftists and foreign elites and outsiders to warp our rights.
Exactly. I was 4 years old (in the early 1960s) when I used the “N word” and my Mom literally washed my mouth out with soap. But it has reached the point where a drunken rant receives more punishment than a pistol-whipping...depending on the race of the offender!
And even in the ranting, it is a one way offense.
NEVER Apologize!
“we have the right to harass and yell profanities at people for no reason”
What ever happened to “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!”
I’ve been called every obscenity in the book and a few made up ones - by my commanding officer in the military! I’ve also had to put up with rude, insulting customers (back before I retired from working for good). She’s a stupid, rude, annoying customer. She deserves to be rebuked by family and friends. But I’ve been on the receiving end of worse from customers. You serve enough people, you WILL run into jerks. Being a jerk had better not be against the law or we’ll need to build a LOT of prisons!
Why is it that cops won’t do anything when someone has a restraining order against them and constantly harassed and or threatens? Cops say they can’t do anything unless the person actually does something.
did you read the article???? there is way more to it then that.
its called a civil society...
She’s not being charged for flipping anyone off. She’s not being charged for being loud and obnoxious. She’s being charged for what she said!
This does not seem applicable here:
“This conduct must also (a) cause physical contact with another person, (b) damage, destroy, or deface real or personal property, or (c) threaten to do any of the acts stated above, if there is reasonable cause to believe that such an act will occur.”
Seems, based on that there is nothing to prosecute
It depends on the situation and the relationship between the people involved. Sometimes, people have a reason to yell, and sometimes they use obscenities. I dealt with many irate customers, but they had a reason to be irate. Sometimes, bosses yell when they have a reason to be upset.
We all argue with people sometimes. Police or security are called on people often for arguments. I told people off with good reason, and I didn't use any foul language or obscene gestures, and they called security (who ended up siding with me).
This woman had no good reason to be angry. Spanish TV is not a good reason. Yet, she stood there, close to the man working there, in a privately owned restaurant, and yelled, dropped f-bombs, and flipped the bird.
Let me be clear: I don't think she should serve jail time for what she did. But, police are called on people for doing far less.
Please see #57 above.
But the police weren’t called on them. They charged her well after the fact. And it wasn’t the business owner who pressed charges. The authorities did this after seeing the video. The fact they have the authority to charge her with a crime is a travesty
Bidenistan.
That is my home town. Left there for points south in 1985. Growing up, that town and surrounds were blood red, as was most of Montgomery County, except Norristown. The libs were to the south in Philly, and to the north in Bucks County, but those were just pockets of hippies (New Hope, as an example]. It saddens me to see what it has become.
